Greetings, Dr. Bailey. I am on tray #3. Eating and drinking (red wine), frankly, is the only challenge with these. I only eat once per day in the later afternoon, but I enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning; I like to slowly sip it but I don't want my trays out more than 1 to 1-1/2 hours, so I make sure to gulp it down quicker than normal because I need time to brush before I put in the aligners. For dinner, I take a bit more time (1-1/2 to 2 hrs) to eat because I cannot rush through food, and I also need to FLOSS and brush after dinner. That gives me at least 20-21 hours of wear time. I also watched your other video about the halos and it helped me tremendously b/c my orthodontist is out of town and off of the grid. I did more time with my chew toy and the halos disappeared. Thank you so much.

I'm halfway into my invisalign treatment but I've learned so much from your videos just now from finding them! I did have a suggestion for the app for there to be a somewhat mini timer for swapping out the rubber bands throughout the day(much like how trayminder was made from there being a lack of an app like it, there's no app with a constant timer like that right now that takes into account skipping night time). Thank you again!

This video helped me a lot! I just got my aligners and attachments yesterday, and I'm really worried about what I can't do anymore. I know the first few days will be sore, but I was meaning to ask: will it always be extremely painful for me to take off my aligners? Even when the soreness is gone? Must I make sure I'm in the 22-hour rule in my first week when things are really moving, so I don't run the risk of hurting the movement of my teeth so early on? Thanks again! And sorry for the questions. I feel less anxious to stay spot-on. You are much kinder than my orthodontist!! :) Thankyou thankyou!!
@TrayMinder3 жыл бұрын
You have very good questions. No, your teeth will not always be so sore, especially when taking off aligners. It’s like exercise. The beginning is the worst. Yes, it’s best to develop an excellent habit at the beginning by wearing your aligners 22 hours a day. It’s easier to establish a good habit than to fix a bad habit. This is your golden opportunity to set a good routine. The rest of your journey will be on cruise control if you do it right the first month. The TrayMinder app is a helpful tool if you choose to use it. Good luck!

Hello. I just got my retainers yesterday and had a quick question about eating and drinking. I usually eat some snacks a good amount per day, and drink sodas, milk, etc. I am aware to not eat and drink with the retainers on, so how many times can I remove my retainer per day and how long can I keep them off to where they don't shift?
@TrayMinder3 жыл бұрын
If you’re in retention (completed treatment) the retainers should ideally be off for less than 2-4 hours a day. That gives ample time for meals and snacks. If you have any unique dental situation, this may not apply so it’s best to ask your dentist.

I have just started with my first tray and have watched all your videos. Extremely well explained, informative and helpful. In this video, you started with a question about drinking a cocktail with your trays in versus taking them out, a quick drink and putting them back on. It seems that you would advocate the latter. Still, I wonder if you could elaborate on the effects on my teeth (not the trays) of drinking with trays in. I am mainly interested in the effects of coffee, tea, beer and both red and white wine (I don't drink sodas, but others might be interested in that too). Is there a big difference between those drinks. Is wine worse than beer, is coffee worse than tea? And how long will it take before the effects take place? When I drink tea or beer at 9PM and go to bed at 10PM, is it ok to leave the trays in because I will brush my teeth and tray an hour later anyway? Lot of questions, I know. Might even be worth a video? ;-) Anyway, thanks for your efforts to inform us!
@TrayMinder3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your nice comment. You asked some very good questions. To be honest, I don’t know the answer. I’m not aware of any good evidenced based publications that addresses those questions in regards to clear aligner therapy. Drinks with acid and sugar are not good for the enamel of teeth and can cause decalcification and weakening. Also red wine and coffee will stain the enamel.
@sharins22652 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. Is that ok to drink hot tea or coffee Or soup with the aligners?

Weight loss doesn’t have to be an issue as long as you’re eating the same amount. Many people lose weight because they are snacking and drinking less than usual and drinking more water.

With aligners on, liquids will inevitably get into your aligners and then you’re soaking your teeth in those liquids. This is likely worse since your saliva can’t help to wash away the liquids.
