my orthodontist wanted me to wear trays for 14 days (30 sets in total i have) but after 4 sets when he saw i had been wearing them (with your life-saving app!) around 22.5 h/day and he examined me, he agreed to shorten the time for a single set to 12 days :) it means almost 2 months faster therapy all in all :))

I wish I had you as a Doc. I started treatment at age 54 in April, 2023, 41 trays. No major changes other than a moderate overbite which I want to fix before getting knew veneers on my top four teeth. At each appointment I mentioned the gaps between the end of the tooth and the tray on my top teeth. I was told it was normal and he would keep an eye on it. Then in early September a button fell off and I went to get that put back on and mentioned again the poor fit. He finally agreed at my 13th tray to rescan. Today I was given an entire new set and now I have 46 trays. So I lost almost 7 months of treatment. I wear my trays 22 hours and so I just am so confused why I have to start over. They plan to give me the scan box next week and hopefully to help me move through trays a bit quicker. You mentioned certain medications can affect treatment. I am on Methimazole for Graves due to hyperthyroid. Do you know of anything about this drug and it's affect on treatment?

UPDATE: Due to life circumstances, I had to delay starting my treatment by 3 months! I just got my attachments on at the end of August and had my teeth cleaned the week before. After exclusively using a WaterPik With Grapefruit seed extract for the past four months, I now only have one level 5 gum pocket left (all the way at the back), and the rest are now 2 & 3s! I’m glad I was delayed, as I feel my gums are now healthy, and it didn’t take long to make a big difference! _______________ Thank you for this! So helpful! You just made me realize that perhaps I should see a periodontist! 😬 I’m going to a top-rated, Diamond plus Orthodontist, and they did x-rays, so surely they would have caught anything alarming, but when I got my teeth cleaned, I had a few level 5 gum pockets and several level 4s. I got a WaterPik with a Pocket Pik tip, used a holistic antibacterial agent with it, for five minutes every day, and in one month, I reversed all but two levels 5s, and I still have a few 4s, but I know these will all be reversed too. Now I’m wondering if I should get a second opinion before starting Invisalign since I have two level 5 gum pockets (though, they may be fours by the time my trays are ready in 3 weeks). Thank you so, so much for your extremely helpful videos. What a blessing you are to all of us!! 🙏🏻

I am having bite issues, at tray 31 of 55 total…. Just about to start the second series of trays now. My teeth are definitely straight now but because a canine has been brought into alignment, that lower tooth now touches the canine in the maxilla. This causes my molars to not touch at all. This has been going on for several months now and my ortho says that they will only touch each other starting ten weeks from next week. So this is a marathon, not a sprint. That said, I would still recommend Invisalign wholeheartedly.

What is the slowest (longest) period that you use for older patients? Do you ever go longer than 14 days per aligner (assuming 19-21hrs/day)? I hear switching at 5, 7, 10, 14 days but never anything longer than 14 days. Is that because after 14 days the aligners are probably stretched out/contorted and no longer putting a force on the teeth that haven't moved?

This is my second week of wearing aligners. Your videos are super helpful! I am on a 1-week tray plan (55 trays total). I noticed that this is not a common plan and I feel concerned about that. Under what conditions would you prescribe an adult that plan? I have minor crowding, a narrow smile, and an overbite but do not have elastic (I have bite stoppers, although my teeth can easily fit behind them). My jaw looks normal though.

I have a question regarding the bands. If the bands correct your bite and the aligners just straighten your teeth. when everything is all said and done and we are living in a magical world of retainers, how does our bite not go back to the way it was? Retainers will only keep the teeth straight. What keeps our bite perfect for the rest of our lives?

You've got me wondering if my orthos know what the hell they're doing. I'm 36 with a bad overbite. 42 trays. Have me switching every 5 days (have the vibrating device). Guess what. Tray 5 comes and my teeth aren't tracking. Big halos. Sent me back to tray #2. Asked me if I'm wearing them. Told her 22 hours. Seems like she didn't believe me. Told me to wear them 5-7 days. Okay, uh, which is it? Obviously 5 days wasn't enough if I'm not tracking? My office visit was about 5 minutes. Explaining nothing. Actually pissed.

I am 58 year old on hormone replacement therapy - with estradiol and prometrium- would I be a candidate for Invisalign to correct my teeth ? I have mild teeth crowding
@TrayMinder
@TrayMinder Жыл бұрын
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can potentially affect orthodontic teeth movement, but the impact may vary from person to person. Hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone, can influence bone density and remodeling. Changes in bone density can impact the rate of tooth movement during orthodontic treatment. *Reminder: this is for general information and educational purposes only and not meant to replace the advice or care of your treating provider. This is general advice and does not establish doctor patient relationship.

Here's what I found on Google: Fluoride and vitamin E may slow tooth movement, while vitamin D may increase it: **Fluoride Can delay tooth movement by reducing the number of active osteoclasts and increasing bone mass and mineral density. **Vitamin E May inhibit tooth movement due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. **Vitamin D May increase tooth movement by stimulating osteoblasts. Vitamin D3 is more effective than vitamin D2 at raising and maintaining vitamin D levels. **Calcium Dietary calcium increases bone resorption, which can increase tooth movement.

It's certainly understandable to want your teeth to move faster for a special event. Switching your aligners every 4-5 days is quite aggressive because it doesn't give time for your osteoblast bone cells to deposit bone. It's best to follow the advice of your doctor. I am 38 and my orthodontist said he puts everyone on a 7 day treatment plan and then sees them in 8 weeks to see if they are tracking. I will have to change my first tray tomorrow and I am a bit worried. When I expressed the desire to start off at 2 week changes because of my age etc, he looked a bit annoyed. Not really sure if I should change it tomorrow or wait.

Hi this great information. I'm 54 and I started my invisalign treatment on the 8th of this month so I am on tray 1 of 32. My orthro has an app that we are using for me to follow the tracking of my treatment. Tomorrow is my next scan to upload on the app to start my tracking. So far it hasn't been very painful just feels a little odd because of having something on my teeth. I do wear them at least 22hrs a day. Thank you for your videos.

I just started. My teeth are crooked but ortho says I only need 14 trays for 7 days a week each. Is this bullsht? I expected at least 18 months with these things.

If I wear the Invisilign for 18h/day on average (so less than 22h), should I wear it a little longer (eg 16 days) to ensure it is on track?
@TrayMinder

If you’re concerned about tracking issues, then yes, increasing the total hours per aligner is wise. Of course, consult with your treating orthodontist first.

It sounds like you have a deep bite. It is good to get a consultation with an orthodontist to fix the deep bite.

I feel like my orthodontist is rushing my treatment. He recommended me to change every 7 days, but my teeth seem to not be tracking because he wants me to use the chewies all the time to force my teeth down into place. He has only seen me one time since I started treatment 9 weeks ago. I use a scan box to take pictures so he doesn't have to see me in person. I personally feel like the pictures don't always give a good result as if I were to see him once every 2 or 3 weeks, maybe. Any thoughts?

can invisilign straighten impacted wisdom teeth?
@TrayMinder

No. Impacted teeth are not erupted so the aligners cannot move them.

Hello, I am 50 yo male, I am at my 4th/34 aligner after 1 month (change every 7 day, for 8 month treatment, only upper tooth). Everything is OK, the track is OK. I have the aligner 24h/24 except to eat, it does not bother me. I had parodontal treatment just before, It was mandatory for me before start the aligners. When I change aligner, it's a little bit pressure and sore teeth for one day, but after the aligner fits perfectly and smoothly and don't bother me. SO I HAVE THE FEELING THAT I CAN CHANGE WAY MORE SOONER THAN EVERY 7 DAYS ! CAN I TRY EVERY 5 or even 3 DAYS ?? I know it is not the usual but I don't mind the pressure and little pain the first day everytime I change aligner. I have the feeling that my tooth move easily + I dont' mind the pressure and pain. Thank you for a response if someone can answer

Great question. Your bone needs time to rebuild after your teeth have been moved to the new position. Here's a video that will explain this in detail: How teeth move kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmqcYo1of7SbfM0

@@TrayMinder Thanks for the response ! OK I've seen the other video, very clear explanation ! So there is a risk of loose tooth if I dont' give time to the bones to rebuilt... OK I don't want that ! Thank you and have a perfect day!

I just got my aligners in yesterday and that day my teeth was in so much pain from the pressure of the aligners. So, also... I have a really dumb question. The 22 hours a day thing, I get that I wear them for 22 hours (which I honestly do and isn't easy 😅), after that... I take them off? Then put them back in the following day?
@TrayMinder

Hope you feel better soon. It’s tough at first. Great question you asked. Taking aligners off for a break actually lengthens the pain period. Typically teeth are sore for the first 3-4 days. See my video on “how teeth move” for more information. Good luck with your treatment.

When you speak of root length is that a similar consideration to gum recession? I am wondering if people with receding gums are good candidates for Invisalign?
@TrayMinder
@TrayMinder 2 жыл бұрын
Gum recession is the loss of gum tissue, making the crown of the tooth appear to be longer. A periodontal exam is good idea for adults with recession, seeking orthodontic treatment.

You should follow your treating doctor’s prescribed number of wear days. They may adjust the days as you progress through treatment. Yes, there is a rubber bands video on the TrayMinder KZbin channel.

The faster you move teeth the more you increase your chance of severe root resorption. Slower is better. Every 14 days is better for your root health.
@TrayMinder
@TrayMinder 4 жыл бұрын
People with previous trauma, short roots, history of root canal, adverse tongue habits, increased age, blunted or pipette root structure, etc. are at higher risk of root resorption, whether with clear aligners or braces. Close monitoring is crucial. Accordingly, patients should always follow the advice of their treating orthodontist because every case is different. There isn’t one rule that fits all patients.
