I see slight gaps "halos" and i raised concern to my orthodontist but he said to continue and its normal. The movement was felt throughout the week. Is my ortho crazy, should i trust his process?

Thank you so much for posting this excellent video. I really appreciate it. Thank you for explaining the presence of dark triangles. Perhaps I will see these in myself as my Invisalign treatment progresses. I did not do a good job of taking care of my teeth over the decades. Now I am in my 60s and taking the steps that my dentist is recommending. I will see how it all progresses over the next few years.

Thank you so much for posting this excellent video. I'm a couple weeks into my Invisalign therapy, on my own set #2 of aligners. I have been trying to keep to 22 hours per day of wear time for my aligners, and I think I am succeeding. I understand the purpose of the 22 hour a day wear time. I am aware that to fix my crooked teeth, force will have to be applied to them over long periods of time. I want the process to succeed. So I will live with this and make the necessary sacrifices to achieve my goal. What I most dislike is not being able to sip cups of tea or coffee over a long time period like half an hour per cup while I am working. I have had to become really organized and efficient about breakfast and lunch meals over the past 4 years so those are no problem for me. The evening meal is harder for me. I try to prepare everything I want to eat in advance, then take my aligners off, start my TrayMinder timer, and eat quickly while playing a board game at the same time. I do hurry to finish my supper. I try to play the game as well. I get flustered when the TryMinder notification shows up on my phone and I'm still eating. I hurry off to floss my teeth, brush, and get my aligners back on. And then I feel a sense of relief that I'm done with meals till the following morning.

Thank you so much for posting this, Dr. Bailey. It makes me appreciate that teeth constantly have mechanical forces applied to them in different ways.

I've had both. Fixed braces when I was a teenager and the pain I experienced was indescribable. Due to not wearing my retainer, I have clear aligners in my 30s. I have experienced discomfort but nowhere near the pain I had with braces

Thank you so much for posting this excellent video. I really appreciate it. My major problem is that I love tea and coffee. I have greatly reduced my consumption of both since starting Invisalign treatment a little more than 2 weeks ago. What I do now is prepare my tea, and let it cool. I also prepare a meal. I eat the meal and drink down the tea quickly during the meal. I still get some of the unique taste of the tea, and that is acceptable to me. After my therapy is over, I can return to savoring tea slowly, over a half hour or more. For now, I make myself wear my aligners at least 22 hours a day. The TrayMinder app helps me a lot with this. Without it, I would not be so disciplined.

@TrayMinder I just noticed one of my teeth isn't tracking anymore. I went back through my progress pictures, and about 3 months ago, that tooth had moved into the position that it should be. Since then, it has shifted back. How are my trays still fitting if it hs moved back? I am going in Mondy to see my ortho and to figure out what the next course of action is. But I only have 2 more trays left out of 29. This is so disappointing. But I just don't understand how my aligners are still fitting 😞

Thank you so much for this excellent video. This really does help me understand more about my Invisalign therapy. You see, a few years ago, I had a bridge over the stump of a previously shattered tooth plus a neighboring tooth. One day the bridge simply fell right onto my tongue. I was quite surprised! My dentist examined me and concluded that I needed dental implants. I underwent oral surgery and went through a lengthy process to get the dental implants. I had at least 2 bone grafts as part of the process so clearly I was showing bone loss. Then, earlier this year, my dentist indicated that I need Invisalign therapy or I would have tooth damage. I agreed to it, so I'm now on my second set of aligners. So based on my actual experience as a patient -- as someone with a gap in my upper teeth -- understand better why surgery may be needed for some people. I am one of those cases.

May I know what about the upper jaw? The maxilar? I have seen the gummy smile being resolved with braces and TADs.
@TrayMinder11 күн бұрын
Great question. A gummy smile is often due to a combination of factors, including: 1. Excessive vertical growth of the upper jaw (maxilla), causing it to tilt downward at the front. 2. Overactive or hyperactive upper lip muscles, which lift the lip higher than usual when smiling. 3. Short or over-erupted upper front teeth, exposing more gum tissue. 4. Altered passive eruption, where the gum tissue covers more of the teeth than normal. For the third factor above, orthodontic treatment-sometimes using Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs)-can help reduce a gummy smile by intruding the upper front teeth. As the teeth move upward, the gum tissue follows, reducing the visibility of the gums.

Thank you for posting this excellent video. I really appreciate your helpful explanations. I learn from you each time I watch the content you post- --- including the "shorts". Your videos not only teach me about my teeth, they help me see my teeth and jaws as living structures that need special care. I do use the TrayMinder app on my phone and it is very helpful to me and makes me very conscious of the need to keep my aligners on my teeth 22 hours a day. Without TrayMinder it would be very easy for me to leave my aligners out just too long. I also took a "teethie" this morning and it was a thrill.

I wish I had done this before starting my Invisalign treatment. I am in my very first week of the treatment as I write this. As I mentioned elsewhere, I installed the TrayMinder app and find it extremely useful. It will help me see ultimate success with my orthodontic treatment. Thank you so much for all the time and effort you invested in creating these videos.

Thank you so much for posting this excellent video. It helps me understand better why I need such a long time (over a year) to correct my teeth. I'm an older person in my 6os and I am in my first week of Invisalign treatment. In fact I have not yet completed week one. In a few more days I will (smile.) This helps me appreciate that teeth are living things with their own special environment that is provided to optimize their ability to do their jobs. I also started appreciating that my jaws are living things, as are all my bones, and they work on their own time scales and not the time scale that someone might wish for. I installed your TrayMinder app on my phone yesterday to help me keep to the 22 hour target for wearing my aligners and it is very, very helpful. I appreciate the app a lot. Thank you so much for creating and maintaining it.

I am having my first aligners fitted in a few weeks and I’ve been addicted to chewing nicotine gum for too many years and I know I’ve got to stop which will be really hard. I’m on lots of pain meds that make my mouth dry so really need something to suck on and wondered if sugar free mints would help while I’m wearing them. I actually brought some nicotine Mini’s which are sugar free to take the edge off my cravings in the beginning until I wean right off. Would it be possible to use these for a few weeks? They just sit on the inside of your cheek

In my final refinement set, ortho mistakenly applied way excessive force. This has led my last tray being taken off for a while in order to reduce inflammation and widespread dental pathology derived from such a force. Now that I'm not wearing any aligner at all, my teeth are returning to its previous positions at a fast pace. Although I need a re-scan once swelling subsides, as long as it takes 3 months to deliver the trays after scanning: won't the teeth be out of sync by then as teeth keep shifting back? will it be like a carrot-and-stick approach?
@RoamingwithBeckyDuncanLadyАй бұрын
Invisalign was the worst experience I’ve had. They are so inconsistent in the way the trays were made. They even made some trays with extra wisdom teeth for example, or higher than my teeth, so many didn’t fit, the times my orthodontist had to get them to remake them was ridiculous. Bad reviews in the UK. Train tracks were better when I was younger. The discomfort really isn’t that bad.

So if Iam correct you yourself went with the Hawley? I am getting my braces off in a few weeks and they are pushing me towards the clear retainer to keep my teeth as straight as possible. However, if it doesnt last as long. It makes the decision harder. Not even sure which ome to get at this point. Can you tell me why YOU decided on the Hawley??
@TrayMinderАй бұрын
Hi! Every doctor has their preferred treatment and retention plan. My original orthodontist gave me a Hawley retainer so that is what I had when I made the video a few years ago. Since I finished my own clear aligner treatment in 2024, I prescribed myself the clear retainers (Vivera Brand from Invisalign).

I came here to write a comment because after watching your videos I started using the trayminder app. This app is so convinient and easy to use. I love the how easy it is to use (unlike invisalign app that is chunky and needs login each time), also the report/graph is very helpful. And I really appreciate the reasonable price it has for premium features, unlike many apps that are money traps.
