Wow, will have to try that out! So glad Tember liked the Hush Puppies. They are like potato salad…sometimes good, sometimes not.

Wow! Did not know about Tonys. Great review and I'll get a group of friends together and "head on over" from the Villages.

Awesome! It definitely was a hidden gem of a place. Just make sure you check the hours and find a time to go. It was so good!

He is correct that they sell Tony's clam chowder in at least most Publix supermarkets in FL or at least they do in the Tampa area where I live. It's in the soup section where the Campbell's (yuk) GMO garbage soups are (yeah, read the label) and are currently selling for around $5.19 per 15 oz can. I eat this stuff all the time and absolutely love it! There is always a can or two of it in my pantry until I need to go buy more. I visited their restaurant in Cedar Key, FL the week after Thanksgiving in 2023 and was somewhat dismayed that they were charging $8 or more per 15 oz. can in the restaurant, which is a little over 50% more than what I can buy the same stuff for in the grocery store. I asked one of the employees why they charged so much more in the restaurants, and they could not give me a straight answer. I will say that they were very friendly and provided good service and got a tip that reflected that. I enjoyed my lunch and time there. I'm just not going to spend that much for cans of your deliriously delicious chowder when I can buy it for much less at the grocery store. Maybe the out of state tourists will go for it, but not the FL residents if they are paying any attention to the prices. I knew that the town was still trying to recover from Hurricane Idalia, which hit the town pretty hard, especially economically, and that's another reason why I wanted to visit... so that my money could help them to recover and rebuild. Call it helping out fellow Floridians in a time of need if you will, along with my need to get out of town for a few days for a mini-vacation a two hour drive or so from home. I was glad to do my very small part to help the town and its merchants out after suffering a pretty devastating storm. Parts of the town were still not recovered when I was there. I was planning on buying about 2 dozen of the cans to give to family as Christmas presents since its not available where they live (N.C.) I ended up cleaning out the shelves in 2 or 3 Publix stores instead to make my purchase instead of directly from them. I was expecting it to be a little less than the grocery store price, since it is from the source after all, and obviously Publix is not going to put a product on its shelf that it isn't going to make at least a little profit off of. I was very put off by the 50+% higher price in the restaurant although it certainly won't keep me from stocking up on it at Publix and "chow(dering) down" on it at least once a month, because it really is hands down, the best chowder there is! Add a little Irish butter along with the half and half (per the instructions) and maybe a sprinkle or two of some Old Bay or other seafood seasoning and you really are in Chowder Heaven.

Hello! Thanks for sharing this info and also how you make it! Good to know that the Publix ones are just as good. Thanks for helping out Cedar Key. We know a family there and know that it got hit pretty hard. We appreciate your generosity and thanks again for the info!

Would it be uncouth to dunk a hush puppy in the chowder? The dining trend in the Chicago area is a 3pm close.

skimpy portions and expensive prices. $7.99 for a garden salad is a joke and the hushpuppies were extremely small in size.

Tony's Chowda House Seems a little too cramped, and the servings way to skimpy for a seafood shack, jus sayin... Subbed, and always a thumbs up!
