With so many incredible Indian restaurants in the New York City area, I knew I had to end my trip with a bang and go all-out. Join me as I eat Indian food for 24 hours in Parsippany, New Jersey!
Joining me is my friend Nisha, who told me that Parsippany is home to upwards of 10,000 Indian-Americans. Along with us were her husband Josh and my videographer, Yves.
✈️ CHECK OUT MY TRAVEL BLOG: davidsbeenhere...
👕 DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH: teespring.com/...
We started at Dhaba Express, which is owned by my friend Ankush! His chefs would be making us roughly 10 dishes. Everything from the curries to the naan looked so good!
Our dishes included chole bhature, aloo paratha, achari mushrooms, and more. We started with chole bhature, a dish I first tried on the streets of Delhi. I loved the chickpeas and light gravy. The bhature was doughy and tasty!
You eat the aloo paratha with dahi. It was stuffed with potatoes, chilies, cilantro, onions, and a delicious masala. We followed that with a creamy lassi and the murgh khurchan pav, which is a toasted bread bun with a delicious and buttery chicken keema.
The tandoori chicken wings, achari mushrooms, and soya chop malai were next. The soya chop malai was creamy and incredible, while the achari mushrooms were smoky with a nice marinade.
I also loved the smoky tandoori chicken wings and mango chicken! The coconutty kori gassa took me right back to Kerala! It was my favorite so far!
Then, we headed to Jashan by Dhaba, another of Ankush’s restaurants. But first, we stopped at Delight Big Bazaar, the largest Indian grocery store in Parsippany. We saw lots of produce, like chilies. I bit into one and it almost killed me!
We also saw rose syrup, which they use to make falooda, idly rice, basmati rice, snacks, chaat mixes, and lassi! I needed the lassi after that pepper! We also saw Desi ghee, sweet chilly sauce, stainless steel cookware, and tons of spices!
As we continued, we also saw pani puris and them making kachoris. There’s also a mini bazaar where they sell clothing and jewelry! I bought my daughters some bangles.
Next was Jashan by Dhaba for lunch, where there was a party going on! After visiting the kitchen and sampling a bit of chicken, it was time to eat!
The lamb chops were moist and covered in an amazing masala. They were great with mint and tamarind chutneys. The paneer akbari was stuffed with three types of cheese and was very unique! I also loved the tangy and smoky tandoori chicken with the tamarind chutney!
The chatpata chicken came with lots of veggies! The honey crispy vegetables reminded me of honey chicken. Then, we jumped on the curries starting with the tender and moist bone-in butter chicken.
The goat curry was unreal with the sweet and nutty kashmiri naan. I loved the shaam savera kofta (dumplings in cashew gravy) with kashmiri naan and roomali roti. The gravy was good enough to drink!
I loved the paneer curry too, and added some rice to the gravies. Then, we finished with fresh lime soda before heading to House of Biryani’s & Kebabs. On the way, we passed a Hindu temple!
They serve lots of Hyderabadi food here! After visiting the kitchen, we enjoyed some haleem, Chicken 65, roast mutton, and gobi. The Chicken 65 was so flavorful, and the mango lassi cooled down my mouth. I loved the gobi, but the roast mutton was nice and spicy!
The haleem was thick and pasty, and the tandoori cornish hen was so tasty and spicy. Their lamb chops blew my mind and the mutton biryani was fatty and flavorful! Then, we finished with kheer, a type of sweet rice pudding!

India doesn't give their passports to non-Indians. They don't permit dual nationality. So you can be sure that most of the Indian-looking people in this video are not Indians in Indian law. They won't have Indian passports or Indian nationality. Indians love to become United States, Canadian, European, Australian and British passport-holders, because these passports open doors for them. Indian passports are essentially worthless, as can be ascertained from any of the major, passport-rating websites. However, in order to acquire these prestigious, White people's passports, Indians are required to surrender their Indian passports to India. When the slightest opportunity arises, Indians willingly dump their worthless passports and rush to get their White sahibs or memsahib's passport.

Parsippany has a large Indian population so not surprisingly has many options for Indian cuisine. It is one of the best in my opinion. Chand Palace is a vegetarian restaurant worth trying. Down the road in Rockaway, Indian Aroma is one of the best in the area.

Hey David just a correction Kori chicken gashi is a mangalorean or udupi dish and not Kerala. Any dish with coconut in it doesn't mean will come only from Kerala. Coconut or be it curry leaves is almost used in all South India cuisines not only kerala cuisine. Do discover the luscious greenery of udupi, mangalore and you will be blown by the simplicity in food , people and culture. Do visit to try the sea food heaven in udupi mangalore side too. To quote further you have not even tasted 1% of what South India has to offer. Be it udupi, madurai, hyderabad, dharwad, the local cuisine of South India is not just limited to dose or idli. It has many more local delights which has not yet gained mainstream exposure but are no less than panner butter masala any given day.

Hey David, it’s great you’re exploring Indian food in the US. Just a suggestion - The Kori Gassi that you had is not from Kerala it’s from Mangalore. Mangalore is also a coastal city but in Karnataka. They also use a lot of coconut in their cuisine and are known for great seafood and vegetarian foods. Would be great if you could explore the place when you’re in india the next time! Keep it going man 🤘🏼🤛🏼

One correction in the name of the dishes. "Kori Gassi" is a traditional Mangalorean/South Canara dish and not from Kerala. It is a coconut based Chicken gravy usually had with Rotti, Which is thin rice crisp wafers. The combination is called as Kori-Rotti. Yum!! :D

Groceries! Great fresh produce at big bazaar; not just Indian things. Also try subzi mandi on other side of I-287 if it's closer / easier to get to (same stuff, slightly smaller store, similar prices), and patel bros + more. There's a very good asian grocery store "top quality market" a few miles down the road (46 same side) for another whole range of cuisines. I love to cook a wide variety of international cuisines, and these stores are indispensable. There are several more in the area, and they all are worth a look.

Friendly correction: As someone from all the way "North," they do NOT use spoons bruv! Also, Kashmiri "naan" is not a thing. It's a modern day Indian American restaurant invention. I swear they add nuts and raisins to anything and call it "Kashmiri." Real Kashmiri breads are tsot, ghyev tsot, lavasa, sheermal, katlam, bagarkhaani, girda, roath, and tilwor. Happy eating!

@10:19 actually Tandoor is not Indian subcontinent cuisine it is imported to that region when the meat eaters -- Turks, Mughals, Persian and other moved in from central Asia and the middle east - they still use Tandoor in those regions. Traditionally the subcontinent was " veg based society". Now you may call it "Indian Tandoori with mix of Indian species". In Persian they call it "Tanoor" - In the middle east traditionally they dug the hole underground and cook the meat as whole carcasses. The best "Tanoori" bread you find in Afghanistan, Uzbekistan in central Asia up to Turkey and beyond.

I tried Dhaba Express for the first time along with the soya chop, a dish I'd never tried before, and likely wouldn't had I not watched this. Thanks for making such an appetizing video. You got me to branch out from the few local Indian places I'd been going to.

Hello David. A 'Desi' tip for you. If you eat raw green chilli or any spicy food, you can have a teaspoon of liquid Ghee to neutralize the effect. You can also rub Ghee on your lips like a lip balm as you mentioned in video that chilli is hitting on lips.

LOL back to saying " right " every 2 seconds ..ajajaaj ...such a bad habit.. I stopped counting at the 100th " right " its redicululous.. I am convinced he is doing it on purpose now because I commented on it the other day and he replied he would keep it in mind and now he has upped the ante and does it even more than any other video ...
