By the way, in reference to the rejected tree farm design at around the 14 minute mark: You can hold a wrench and look at the side of the Mechanical Piston to change its mode, so that it doesn't place the contraption as physical blocks when it stops moving!

Zed, if you right click on a chute with a wrench it toggles with alternate block skin... the alternate has a window that shows the item passing through it.

Zed, if you put a log onto a mechanical saw (the same one you cut down trees with) it will make a stripped log. This way you're not using up axes in the process. So: chest -> funnel -> saw -> belt with a deployer over it -> funnel -> chest

Hi Zed, there is another tree in this biome mod which also drops a ton of apples but they’re green ones, it has blue wood and pink foliage, I think it’s called ‘skyris’ or something similar, you might find a wandering trader selling the sapling at some point. Nice machine, great job

Doesn’t the saw mill break the logs? Like how they do in the tree farm?

@@seanclark4071 normally yeah, but if it faces up it can be used to saw wood into stripped wood or wood planks, can saw andesite alloys into shafts, and can saw stone into any stonecutter recipe (filters can be used to select which recipe to use when one item has multiple outputs)

the beauty of create is that there are many solutions to the same problem! the inefficiency is minor so it really doesn’t matter much :)

8:10 close! they vomit it out, repeatedly. They absorb the water in their guts until it’s dry enough to not ferment. You can sometimes find nectar or half processed honey in cells (the little slots in the comb) and it is absolutely delicious!

I commented the same on tango's vid, but you can actually use a mechanical saw to strip the logs. It means you don't need to keep adding axes and unless that's a config we turned on in our server, a mechanical saw can do a whole stack of logs at once too, which means the process is faster. Even if the stack thing isn't true for this series (I genuinely don't know) it's still less resource intensive.

I do wish you are like true kings, varnishing your diet with sweet rolls, tea, and berries as well. The tea and sweet rolls would have a truly neat line. One needs leaves, and another bread, which you can make by grinding 1 wheat into 1 flour, washing it into 1 dough, cooking it into 1 bread, and then squirt it with milk taken automatically from a cow. Also, your personal factory needs stairs or something to be able to access the inventory without jumping!

You can do the casing automation in a fraction of the space by using a mechanical saw to strip wood and a deployer to apply ingots in an assembly line. Can do belt>saw>depot with deployer>funnel to pick up the finished casing. Input logs onto the belt and ingots into the deployer and you're done!

14:14 the mechanical piston, like many create machines, has several settings. hold your wrench and look at it, then scroll to change the settings. one of the options for pistons changes their 'turn to block' behavior. one option is 'become block in starting position only' which would solve the issue you had with that machine.

Very Interesting Take on the Casing Automation - I play with my Friends for a couple of months now with a similiar Modpack that i made myself. including create - and I made it with a mechanical Belt and a Mechanical Saw - Where you input Logs into a Barrel - they get output over the saw - get stripped - then to the mechanical belt where a Hand puts on the andesite alloy. Extremely fast, efficient and easy to maintain. Just have to restock the iron nuggets from time to time - and obviously you can easily swap out the material in the Hand with Brass for example. or maybe having multiple hands which you can turn off/on to which you need. Was a fun episode Zedaph, i absolutely enjoy you guys create content

Zed! Your drill can be replaced with the same process as the axe, except with an Engineer's Wrench! It's only break the finished block and make the process quicker!

That mechanical saw can actually be actuated directly on the backside with a handcrank. That way you don't need to use a piston :)

for the casing production, just make it like a precision mechanism production line, where you have logs--[saw]---[deployer]-->casing, that would get rid of the slow drilling process, since you will be processing them on belts in item form. (also train casing requires deployment on brass casing, so 2 hands might be required.)

Nice vid Zedaph, but I noticed a few things: You only need one unfiltered funnel on the tree farm, and if you want even more logs you can have deployers planting saplings behind the saw blades, which should be as efficient without using bonemeal

Not sure if you ever noticed, but the other piston extender type of saw that you made actually can work, you just change a setting on the piston to turn back into real blocks only at the start of the cycle, not both ends.

Hey Zed, you can use a sawmill (or sawblade? I forgor what they're called) to shave the wood from a conveyerbelt, for free! This means you can make an assembly line to pump andersite on it straight afterwards and then pop it into a chest without having to feed extra tools and things to break blocks. Of course your current setup works, but this might be a good way to scale things up if you need more quantity in the future.

I do believe that the back-and-forth sawblade would have worked for the trees if you changed the setting on the sawblade to "place blocks in original position". This was possible in 1.16, but I haven't played since then so I don't know.

The saw strips logs without axes. Leave it on a belt and you don't need to break the finished block.

Hello Zed! There is a way to tell mechanical piston to not let the contraption it is pushing turn to blocs. Just use the wrench and program your piston. Nice video by the way! :p

I'm probably not the first to say this but you can make the extendable pistons not convert back into solid blocks using the wrench, which would fix the problem with the saplings breaking Although the spinny thing is much more fun anyway so
