Little trick I use for catching crayfish, is put your hand behind them while slowly put your finger in front of them. They’ll be focused on your finger and won’t notice your hand then scare them with the front finger and they swim backwards into your open hand and grab them.

Righteous, man. I used to do something similar on the Congaree and Saluda in SC. My rules were: only hooks and sinkers for tackle, bait must be gathered by hand. #6 or #8 pound test. Sometimes I'd get lucky and find some crickets or grasshoppers on the walk in, but a lot of times I had to use freshwater clams dug out of a sandbar, or even small crayfish. If you get one small bluegill or shell cracker, you cut it into strips for catfish or striper. I enjoyed the challenge of working my way up the food chain. It's nice walking up on a creek not taking much with you.

The first trout you caught is wild because the bottom fin closest to the tail still has its white mark and if it’s a stock, the white mark is gone from robbing in the walls

I have that exact same Team Lew's MachLite combo and I love it. I live near Pittsburgh and I usually catch panfish, largemouth, and trout, but I grew up in Florida and I was used to catching big redfish, seatrout, kingfish, Spanish Mackerel, grouper, shark, tarpon, and other big saltwater fish, so moving here and catching a 9 Oz trout necessitated me to use ultralight rigs due to the fact that tiny fish aren't a decent fight without one. I have over 50 rods and reels, including almost all of the Shimano DC models (including the Metanium and Curado). I also have a Cadence ultralight rod and reel, but that Lew's MachLite combo is smooth and casts well. I bought a Team Lew's Black Series bait caster combo for $300 from Gander Mtn and I also love it. I have quite a fairly few high dollar medium to heavy rod and reel setups and I rarely get to use them anymore.

That is definitely a stocked trout. So wild rainbows tend to have a really sharp nose and put up a hell of a fight. Wild rainbows also have much more predominate colors and sharper fins too. Stocked trout scales will also rub off easily and their tails aren’t very big because of the environment they developed in
@jamesstelfox68762 жыл бұрын
Stocked trout always have a slight bend on their dorsal fin. That trout is defoo wild. A bird will have eaten the eggs and shit them out
