EATING OUR WAY THROUGH PUERTO VALLARTA | Best Street Food

If you are like us, food is one of our favorite parts of travel and getting to know a country and it's culture. We may be biased, but we like to say #Mexicanfood is our favorite food. So what better way to start off our time in #PuertoVallarta than with a food tour with some of the local favorites.
There are tons of #foodtours running in Puerto Vallarta and though it is nice at times to just follow a person around to the hidden gems and must-try foods in a city, we like to create our own tours. We get to go at our own pace, throw in some extra stops and experience it as a local would, just walking up to the stand and ordering on our own. So we did some research, found la Zona Romantica was the area to explore and then found "cheap eats" through Trip Advisor and Google, clicked on the highest-ranking ones and pinned them on a map.

This food tour includes seafood tacos, more tacos, tortas, some drinks at our favorite spot and it is ended with our favorite desert in Mexico. We have to change our route a couple times due to some stalls being closed, but that's part of the adventure here, going with the flow and seeing what works and what doesn't.

Wow, you guys brought me back some childhood memories. Marisma is named after their owners, Mary and Ismael. I would spend my summer vacations with them, at that very same house behind the taco stand. Mary is my cousin. I now live in USA but can't go too long without coming back to visit PV. I used to live in Puerto Vallarta for 3 years, now I go there on vacation, I still live in Mexico, 3.5 hour drive from Phoenix or Tucson, Puerto Penasco/Rocky Point. SO happy to have great taco places. I found a new place recently that also has eyeballs, the BEST. In Vallarta outside of Ley downtown, there's taco stalls, pretty good too. I'm coming in November and looking for new places, just love you 2 kids. My friend said "boy those people can eat, I wonder how much weight they gained". I love that y'all got excited about the food, I got excited seeing the areas I used to walk around since my office (real estate) was Zona Romantica and I recognize all the streets and landmarks. Thank you again, I subscribed and liked. If you're ever in our area, let me know and I can show you some good spots.

We lived in PV for almost 4 years, 3 1/2 in Zona Romantica. We moved back to the States April 2022. We rarely missed a chance to eat at Mariana’s. One of our favorites. The ladies are so sweet. I ate at tacos de cabeza but my wife wouldn’t eat there. Also lingua and cheek. I ate the carnitas at your second stop many times. On Venustiano carranza. Always many locals eating there. Sit on the curb or find a spare chair. Birrias de Chanfay has the best birrias tacos and empenadas. Taco Hormigas in front of Farmacia Guadalajara is one of the best street vendors in ZR. I haven’t eaten at the birria place Tacos Moreno you went to, but have passed it many times. The summer sunsets are the best when there’s rain clouds still in the sky.

I haven't seen anything on El Pechugon which is a stand that sells roast chicken. When I went there about ten years ago that was one of my favorite places to eat.My wife went to PV last month and says they are still around and have been branching out, which is good news.

I’m so glad you could try them out as well as the tacos de carnitas and the churros, I grew up in that area and I remember going for some tacos with my grandparents who are actually friends with the owners.
