Stroopwafels are even better when warm! You can buy fresh, warm stroopwafels at most street markets in Holland. Or, when I'm at home, I put them on top of a hot cup of coffee for a few minutes to warm them up and make them absorb a bit of coffee aroma :)

To those wondering: Stroopwafels translates to "syrup-waffles". Gevulde koeken translates to "Stuffed cakes". And i like that Rhett is trying to pronounce gevulde koeken as best as he can, but the words are not supposed to have an accent or anything. Dutch is a very direct language, there is no accent or other fancy stuff like in the scandinavian languages. I die a little every time he says gevulde koeken, because i can see in his eyes that he completely thinks he is saying it correctly, but i have never heard anyone say it as badly as Rhett.

For those interested, Stroofwafels = Syrup waffle. It's two thin waffles and caramel syrup on the inside. Gevulde koeken = Filled cookie, it's simple cookie filled with almond paste. Both are favorites to go with the coffee :D

Here in the Netherlands, "stroopwafels" are also served in pieces in a paper-cone with warm syrup poured over it, in stead of in between the two cookies (which is how it's built up). Also, "gevulde koeken" translate to "filled cookies" and are pronounced like gevehhldehh kookehhn ("ehh" as in the "thinking sound")
