Born and raised Alaskan. Grew up on the Kenai Peninsula. Grew up eating salmon and moose. Literally from river to table. Our father taught in the villages. He'd bring king crab legs home from his trips. It's first rate. Super sweet. It's gift to have such a wonderful childhood. Snowball fights. Sliding. In the summer time playing until after midnight. And still look like it's 4 pm. I wouldn't change a thing.

I grew up in Juneau Alaska!!! So glad you got to experience the beautiful state. Though growing up there I was not a fan of seafood BUT HALIBUT is the most amazing thing in the world. We recently moved to Tennessee and get Halibut shipped to us every few months from Juneau. You definitely should try Halibut tacos or Halibut Olympia!!!!

Yes, yes that’s a normal price for fresh out of the water, never frozen not shipped 3,000 miles. Previously frozen Alaska wild caught halibut I have seen for $29 per lb at Whole Foods in Reno where I live. Refuse to pay that price for previously frozen. Halibut is deep sea Alaska water fishing. You don’t just cast a pole.

The halibut was so expensive because you’re in Alaska and you’re doing the tourist thing so of course they’re gonna charge you more money. It happens everywhere.
