Got my attention, nice color! I have had some horn plantain banana on our dry west side get close to that size. Usually only a few fruits on a rack. I am sure it is fabulous cooked. Thanks, great find!

Why on your dry side? Here they grow in wet climate. Yes, just a few fruits per plant is normal

@@allthefruit Our dry side has a poorer local population that eats what they grow, so they don't let BBTV get out of control. Up North where I am at it is all wealthy folks that grow for show and the BBTV is out of control. Our Cuban horns died and only the African horns survive in some places in the dry west side.

We always ate them fried in batter in the city of Kuching. They we're SO SO delicious! And really quiet a show to watch that Asian lady chopping them down. As you said the skin of the bananas she used was completely pitch black and looked kind of crazy to be honest. Definitely a banana I would plant in my future garden for sure !

As Indonesian. " Nice pisang" From Jambi Sumatra, we call it "banana king (pisang raja)" Each region has its own name for each banana species.

Interesting. Here pisang raja is a different banana

no big seeds?

Some even bigger ones around Kuching were bumpy suggesting there might be big seeds. Regrets, regrets... The only right thing is to buy everything that looks a bit off

Did you study those fruit in Uni of how do you know all of this?

Cool , do you work with plants in your main Job/ Profession?

My grandpa has multiple plants in his side garden in java. Sometimes when they get close to ripe a gust of moderate winds are enough to make the plant snap and topple over 😂

I think I have seen ones bigger. I have always thought that plantains were related to pisang tanduk.

@allthefruit esp. when I was younger and it curved a lot more, looks like buffalo horns like it's name.

Maybe you were smaller then

Asiana bananas are small, but you see, size doesn't matter, small ones are the more tasty ones.

Sonit tasted like a plantain? I cant judge much because i only ate one ever, but it was very very starchy and had a weird taste to it. If i ever get to buy another one ill try to fry it or as tou suggested gey thr skin to turn black
@zinckensteel10 күн бұрын
Treat them like you would a sweet potato or other starchy root vegetable, and they become quite delicious.

I tried to ripen a few up of these, got them super black, still didnt enjoy it, tried cooking, didnt enjoy it, maybe an acquired taste? the taste reminds me of eating banana skins
@allthefruit11 күн бұрын
They might have been harvested way too unripe. Maybe find some nice yellow ones, bring them home, wait until they are almost black, then try again
@Hana-kc1lq7 күн бұрын
It shouldn't taste like banana skins. It's sweet
@6AxisSage7 күн бұрын
@@Hana-kc1lq it seems that there was an issue with the ones I tried or I didnt ripen them correctly

Super black goes in the compost pit. It is bad
@6AxisSage7 күн бұрын
@christopherqchin4319 I got several and tried cooking and raw at several stages from green to yellow to last of all black. Most likely ruined by importation method/storage like freezing.
