I'm Mexican and I've been living in San Cristóbal for almost 15 years. I was invited to serve as a tourist guide because I'm welcoming a group of people coming from USA that a friend of mine is bringing up to Chiapas this summer. And eventhough I speak a little bit of English I need more useful vocabulary, phrases and expresions in order to show them the city and the interestings landmarks around it. That's why I found this video incredibly helpful to prepare myself to receive my beloved guests. Thank you very much. Greetings and blessings from San Cristóbal de las Casas.

I hope you guys go through Puebla on the way back! It’s so beautiful and colonial and so many little towns around the city worth the visit like Cholula with the largest pyramid in the world (the widest at least), the beautiful hilltop town of Atlixco with its eternal spring temps and views of the volcanoes, the nearby town of Chipilo which was founded by northern Italian immigrants where they still speak Veneto and the gastronomic corridor downtown has all the amazing Italian food you can ask for and their gelato is orgasmic! Also the town of Tlaxcala and Val’Quirico and some haciendas like Chautla! I hope you guys visit the Chiapas coffee plantations! They’re so beautiful most were built by German immigrants (whose descendants still own them) and it’s amazing to see these German structures in the Chiapas jungles and mountains! Have an amazing journey and thanks for letting us follow you through my beautiful Mexico! :)

luv the way you cover these paces - except San Cristoval de las Casas. you missed one of the world's finest places to find amber. the world second largest amber mines are in Simojovel - just a 40-kilometer drive - but the owners from Simojovel have made a fantastic Museum / retail store in San Cristoval de las Casas. I know about it as I used to buy amber from the mother of the guy that set up the business in San Crristoval - if you ever get a chance ask for Luis Alonso Zuñiga and mention his mother Sister Lilia. He remembered me from 35 years ago when I first found the amber in Mexico - now it is a huge industry employing 32,000 people just in Chiapas. and Mexican amber is now an important commodity in Mexico

The rural places are filled with small towns or farms. The highway cuts their communities and they must cross (sometimes with animals) throughout the day. The topes slow traffic a bit to help make it a little safer. Still, many locals are hit by cars every year. It's a pain, but I hope this info makes them a little less painful. Love ypur videos.

Can you talk about how you find rv parks? do you park other places.Also, do you think its better to rv or backpack? A what are the pros and cons with backpackers would be good.
@EatSeeRV
@EatSeeRV 3 жыл бұрын
Pros and cons to both. Accomodations are pretty cheap I. Mexico but touristy spots nightly stays can be expensive. We can cook when we want and we have all of our things (and cats with us). Backpacking you'd have to rent a car to get around or bus. We have our vehicle with us. However driving and rv through Mexico is tough. Mexico's roads were not built for big vehicles like this. - Liz

We want to go! But the road in and out isn't made for an RV. There is no where to park! We'll have to go back in just a car in the future. - Liz

In 1967 San C. was full of colorful indians . Didn't see any in your video.

They were there. And they are not indians, but natives or indigenous. There's over 22 tribes surrounding chiapas we even spoke to that in the video. Did you watch the whole thing? - Liz

Really interesting place. Was there 30 years ago and plan on returning next year. I always cringed when I heard you call it San Chris!!! Is that what they call it now?

Long ago, that's where I ate my first tamales and the waiter had to show me hoe to unwrap the banana leaves.

That's AWESOME! I remember my first tamale too. My grandmother's friend made some for us. I remember thinking " Am I supposed to eat the husk?!" LOL - Dennis 🤦‍♂️
