I too was ambivalent about the Grand Canyon before going there. Once we were there I was in awe. Photos can not doit justice. Sunrises and sunsets are absolutely breathtaking.

We made the trip from Florida to the Grand Canyon last Christmas! Long 3 days driving and towing but worth it!!! Was completely snow covered and beautiful. But COLD!!!! We are like you as we like to soak everything in and just take our time when in nature. 😊 safe travels!

Our favorite place to see there was Jerome, Az, and the drive from 89 to 89A into Jerome is breathtaking. Love your video. We are new to RVing this year. A trip to British Columbia then another to Nevada and Arizona sealed the deal for us. We were at Monument Valley and Grand Canyon last year in mid-December. No crowds. It was cool but worth it. Only downside is the risk of change in weather. Can’t wait for our borders to reopen so we can further explore our beautiful countries.

Hey guys- I have been to the Grand Canyon many times...summer, fall, winter.... it’s always amazing and yeah there are places are crowded but it’s easy to get away from crowds quickly even without dropping of the Mesa... the watchtower is amazing...please Check out wupatki nat’l monument... should also eat a dinner at el Tovar after Covid... amazing...

Been there twice it is great, stayed at hotel last time, on the canyon side after about 11:00 pm elk come out to graze the green grass, everywhere else is brown, they are huge and beautiful. I got back up about 4am and joined them again, I was hooked.

My wife and I spent a month in Flagstaff and made numerous road trips to the Grand Canyon (we hiked part of the Bright Angel Trail) and enjoyed many of the spots you visited. In ‘87 my wife and I hiked from the North Rim to the South Rim using N.Kaibab trail down and Bright Angel coming out. Those are the most popular, and therefore the most traveled, consequently that peace and solitude was hard to come by. I planned the trip for hiking in August with heat and enough drinking water being major factors. It seems though there were plenty of other trails that would have been more remote and therefore quieter.

Thanks for the revisit to the Canyon. Stopping and listening and looking, capturing a space and time, is what the rest of the world's cultures have called spiritualism. Kind of lost here growing up in the States. Ironically, the American Indians were perhaps among the most spiritual cultures. Feeling the tie to nature by exploring it with all of the senses, is kind of the "vibe." Sitting in a spot and slowing down; allowing the moments to live and breath, without being so process or task oriented. Well, you're right, most of our culture here doesn't do this. It's one of the reasons people who ride motorcycles and bicycles travel with more rewards. I take both with me in the 8' bed of my truck, and pull the travel trailer, as a hub to branch out from, and experience places with more intimacy. Good for you :)

Another great video with excellent footage of the Canyon. I've been a number of times, and it never get's old. Liz, you're awesome...nothing like a girl who can enjoy beer with her man! You two always have a nice vibe together! I have a question about your "Beddys" that you got for your bed. Just got my coach last week, a 2010 Itasca Navion 24K.....very similar floorplan to what you have. My bed over the cab is 48 x 76, but Beddy's doesn't make something that fits it. I'm thinking yours must be the same....if it is, which size Beddys did you get, and/or could you recommend for me? Thanx!

So glad you enjoyed it! For beddys, we got the full size sheets. Our bed is the same as yours. Not quite a full size. It matches length but not width. But the sheets work well. They don't move around or anything. We love the minky liner in the cold weather but it gets hot in warmer temperatures. That'd be the only thing we change I think. - Liz

Hi Steve! The shuttles are free and included in your park entrance fee. The run every 8 minutes currently. You can walk or take the shuttle in the closed off areas. There are parts of the park you can drive. Just not all of it. Glad you enjoyed - Liz

We're the same. Don't like the crowds. I visited the Grand Canyon in my 20s and sadly was not impressed. Not sure what was up with me but when we visited last year at 60 I couldn't get enough of it. We sat and ate lunch gazing at it all 6 days of our visit. I was annoyed one day because the whole time a lady with a loud voice was non-stop talking (she was a fair distance) and I just wanted to hear the natural sounds. We went in April which was before the big crowds started. A place you can go for less crowds is Shoshone Point Hiking Trail. It's about a mile walk from the parking area but there's a potty and a couple of tables and not many people go there from what we can tell. Amazingly they say the typical stay lasts from five to seven hours, according to park surveys, and the average time spent looking at the canyon is 17 minutes. Sharon & Michael Briggs

You made the mistake that the vast majority of canyon visitors make. Staying on the “rim”. Bright Angel Trail is magnificent and misses all those people on the rim. You can make of it what you want - you don’t have to go to the river (in fact you can not do that most months of the year because you can’t carry enough water). However, you can go down a bit. It changes the entire perspective of the canyon and connects you even more to its beauty. As you pointed out it is very rigorous. It is especially tough as you start “easy” (downhill) but coming back is very challenging - and totally worth it.

It looked epic. That hike was PACKED the day we were there. Hundreds of people on bright angels. We only saw a few other people on the rim trail so it worked for us. But definitely a hike we want to do in the future 🙂 - Liz

Those sunsets! 😍 I went there years ago, to the north rim, an impromptu side trip from the Utah parks. There is a cool app called The Photographer’s Ephemeris that gives detailed info about location, time, elevation of sun and moon (and phases). It’s free for desktop but the iOS / Android app costs $.

We were out west in February. Camping at Lake Mead. Hubs and I both have disabilities with our backs. We drove 2 hrs, knowing we would get there just in time for a few pictures. Didn’t know we entered through a “gift shop” where the glass walkway is. It closed 15 min before we got there. There was no place you could stop where we were at to even see a glimpse at a distance. Poor planning!!🤦‍♀️ how flat/level is the rim trail?

If you make a commercial living off the footage, technically you should have a permit. What a commercial living is, isn't defined. But I can promise we aren't earning a commercial living off our videos... 😂 At least not yet!

Nice presentation of Grand Canyon, South Rim. And you are correct, if there was no pandemic, and it was full on Summer, GCNP is so packed with people is a huge zoo on the South Rim. 5 million people a year go to the South Rim....only 500K go to the North Rim, which is only open May 15 to October 15. So put North Rim on your future list for vistas such as Wotan's Throne from Cape Royal. The North Rim is 1200 ft higher in elevation, about 10-15 degrees cooler and way less crowded. It's a Class C, 2010 Fleetwood Pulse 24S. The only real difference between a C and B+ is the over cab bunk. But that's a hot debate I try to stay out of, LOL! - Dennis ✌️
