Sweet man. I mean if it is still holding is say it will easily hold indefinitely. Worst case you add more layers haha but at the end I’m happy it worked and hopefully more people can gain from it too

I really like your method, if I would know this earlier when I had leak tank last year I couldn't save half of my fishes. Right now I have new tank and hope it won't leak, but now I know how can I save it. Thank you, great video.

GREAT INFO -- FYI, there also are accelerants available that help super glue cure even faster than normal. I have also had success with Flex Seal spray on cracked glass, but doesn't seem to work on edges -- guessing it's silicone based and so will not stick. Appreciate having another really viable option to try (as I have a 10 that just started to leaking!)

Another great way to fix the outside glass is Flex Seal. I sprayed the back and bottom black, let it dry for a day, filled it back up, and haven’t had another leak since. It’s basically a liquid rubber spray and it dries water tight. I don’t recommend using it on the inside glass. It contains aerosol chemicals.

Flexseal, I had a leak in a 20 gallon long that is connected to another 20 gallon long via uniseals. It was leaking at one of the uniseals. I went to Lowes and bought some FLEXSEAL spray. Leak fixed and has not even so much as seen a drop coming out.
@meandmyRC99 Жыл бұрын
I have a similar uniseal problem, and I was staring at the stuff wondering if it would fix my issue. I went with silicone, but I may try that stuff next time.

I too have to thank you for this video. I am having almost the same exact issue with my tank as I type this. On the bottom seal, so I'm not able to drain my tank completely at the moment but I guess ill let you know how it goes.

Very cool hack to buy some time, I think the baking soda might stck even better because you would be working with a wet seam.
@eatsleepreef95654 жыл бұрын
Yes I had that thought too. If there was water present it may make a better seal 🤙🏼
@kcvu72153 жыл бұрын
Can i do this out the outside of the tank with the water not drained?
@blakdad3 ай бұрын
I drained 90 percent of the water to relieve the pressure. It makes it easier to work on. Albeit it's a 10 gallon so I was able to store the water

This is great and the nail glue from dollar tree in a white bottle with blue label and it has a brush tip this glue is really really thin I can speak from experience mine tipped over and spread everywhere like a cup of water 🌊 and it works well for this and the brush is a +1 helps get it where it's needed

I am disabled and my tank started leaking this morning and as INFORMATIVE as this video was my God!!! All the talking! Are you a professor! So you couldn't just say "hey guys...got a sudden leak in your aquarium...super glue and baking soda."😠
@gerriekruger13 жыл бұрын
Just a warning. Super glue does not expand and contract like glass if the temperature changes. You run the risk of cracking the glass down the road.
@eatsleepreef95653 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t consider this a one time fix at all. Look at it as a week fix till you get the next tank or whatever you are trying to do

Is this just a temporary measure or will it work long-term? Also, will it work inside the tank? I have a 210 that as a very minor leak at the rear bottom and I was wondering if this is a viable option to totally resealing the tank? OK I put this comment in before I finish watching the video so I’m assuming what you’re saying this is just a temporary fix so it’s not something that I can use long-term for the 210 that I have that is leaking?

is this a permanent seal? people keep commenting about how this "buys you some time" but i cracked the bottom panel in one small area as i was doing the DIY method of removing the frame. I don't really want to go buy another one so i'm wondering if this will hold forever (as much as possible)

@rubberduckyv1146 Жыл бұрын
Did you ever try it and worked as a forever seal? I know this an old comment but I’m in the same situation, the bottom has a small chip that is letting out a drop every 3 minutes, I put crazy glue in it but it has seemed to stop but will it last forever?
@Fr0mag3 Жыл бұрын
I did not have any liquid superglue so I tried using a UV cured glue, 5 second fix. I tried using it for a small leak on the outside vertical edge, about half way down the tank. Glue says it is flexible and waterproof and seals against glass. I am curious if it has a similar adhesive strength and stiffness as superglue. I did not pack the area with a filler like baking soda to create a surface plug like in your video. Hopefully there is some adhesion between it and silicone. I Know it will stick to the glass sides, but the small silicone seam between them has me a little worried. If it does not adhere to the internal silicone seam, I am afraid it will begin leaking again.

Hi I have a crack on the side panel of my tank its about 3 inches long. Middle of the glass. Is just on the inside of the glass. It's not leaking. Would you recommend doing this to it?

I was just given an old metal frame aquarium that the previous owner had attempted to fix by putting more silicone over the old which we know won't work. Being just as lazy and not wanting to completely redo the whole thing, I'm wondering if using baking soda and super glue around the bottom framing on the outside might work? Can this be a permanent solution or is it good for only a small temporary fix?

I'm trying to fix a leak I have on my monomer holder. Im a nail technician and I have to keep monomer in a dish. I purchased a dish that leaks and cannot get a refund/exchange. I don't know what glue I can use to seal the leak because monomer is strong and dissolves most glues. Any ideas?
@a.z.c.6813 жыл бұрын
I obviously cannot take this seriously, since you did not show us the RESULTS. This means: filling the tank with water and let it sit for a week!!!!!
@xisotopex10 ай бұрын
as he made clear in both the comments, and in the video, this is not a permanent fix, this is a solution for an emergency to give time to move fish and corals somewhere safe.

Hi, is it safe at a point that the power glue will not dry the existing silicone between the glass and make it crack?

Do you know what the safest super glue is? I accidentally bought a super glue that could can cancer and I’m unsure to use it on my leaking tank
@susanbecker5610 Жыл бұрын
A lot of aqua scapers use gorilla glue. I'm pretty sure it's the fumes that can cause cancer, though. Once it's cured, it should be fine. Just wear a mask while you're using the glue.
