As a former waitress in America........yes. To the table bell. YES. Omg. Sometimes people really just want you to leave them alone (actually that happened a lot where I worked) but you can't leave them alone because if you aren't on top of their every need they get so upset but they won't call you over if they need something. (Also if my boss caught my guests doing that then I would get in serious trouble -even if they told him they'd asked me to ignore them-.) So yes. I'm sure it wouldn't work in all places but at least where I used to work that table bell would have been absolutely -divine-.

Oh we have a Japanese style restaurant in the Netherlands here and they use tablets where you can call someone and you can fill in WHY you called for instance: Refill Soyu Sauce, Refill Wasabi, Refill Drinks, I want to order something else, I need help etc. ITS AWESOME

1. Table bells, check! But sometimes some of the attention response of the waiters/waitresses here needs to be improved. 2. Bank card... Hmm... Ok, so we kinda have one here but it kind of is only for transportation purposes. 3. Magnetic handles? That's something new... 4. Egg... I might need that... Wait, I think here in Malaysia is like a WiFi USB thingie... Except that it's not always great here... Yeah, the net can be tortoise speed...
@Greenbow8910 жыл бұрын
In America Peter Piper Pizza has adopted a similar concept because when you place your order at the counter they hand you an item which looks similar in shape to the "table bell". This bell will either flash (lights are on it) or make a small sound which signals when your order is done and that you need to go to the pickup counter.

I don't think the no tipping culture has to do with those table button things. Most countries in the world do not have a tipping culture and likewise most of those countries do not have the table buttons.

I think it comes down to urban, suburban, and rural. In NYC you can get Wifi almost anywhere. Wifi hotspot carriers are also available and have been available on the market a long while. Many hotels have keypad system and some apartments in NYC support keycards or keypads. Bell for waitstaff is also available here, though not as often, and we still 'require' tipping. Go a bit further south into Jersey or even further and you have none of these as easily available.

We have 3:09 at my university. It's used in every building on campus. The bell thing sounds ideal. Where I live, the waiters are so damn lazy. They just disappear and talk to their friends. Probably you could buy a system online but it would be much more expensive than a regular keyed entry door lock.

Keys are older than Simon thought: History of keys started at the same moment when first locks appeared in ancient Babylon and Egypt, some 6 thousand years ago. 4 years passed since this video and now we can use "just swing it" bank cards almost everywhere as well :) Even to open the door to your house or flat if it's adapted. You swing it next to your door and it opens. Sometimes also the lights and radio turns on (depends on settings). And when you go outside, you swing it and everything shuts down. No chance of leaving lights on, water running, etc. Only the fridge somehow keeps working. It's actually scary! I've almost got a heart attack when I first saw it xD I wonder if it's common in Korea, because it's crawling on all fours in Europe.
