Very nice. As usual, I see you do something in a video and it makes me want to try it, specifically the warmer tones in the creases and the weathering with Fyreslayer. My little bit of extra stuff that I find helps to pass along for anyone else who struggles with free hand: on light colors like yellow, you can sketch out your lines ahead of time with a soft mechanical pencil. I can make lines much straighter doing that than I can with a brush. Not necessary as you can see Juan do this with just his brush, but it helps a lot of us less talented guys out.

There are no ratios sorry, each paint is different and will require a different amount of water. You need to learn to get there by feel, that's why I show the consistency on my thumb. Sorry I can't help you more but I would be lying to you if I gave you a number.

Hi, thx for the awesome tutorial, one thing i struggle, not sure if I do something wrong or not, I do not have this issue with greyseer primer can, but when I use leadbelcher my paint do not want to stick to it, and behave as I would paint of greasy surface which I'm not. ANy Idea what I can be doing wrong? I do shake the cans and everything like usual, at least 5 min shake in ok room temperature.
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures 2 жыл бұрын
You are doing nothing wrong, can primer can sometimes become hydrophobic, specially prevalent with metallic primers. Paint WILL stick to it, you just need to insist, don't stop, just brush it on and keep brushing it until it sticks.
@marekhrnciarik7681
@marekhrnciarik7681 2 жыл бұрын
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures oh damn ok, but at least I know I don't do anything wrong, when painting over normal paint I guess I can just insist like you say until the paint sticks to it, but it's a huge issue with contrast paint that suppose to be runny :(
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures 2 жыл бұрын
Once you understand how to make it stick it's not an issue. I've had that happen to me in almost all the metallic basecoated minis for the Eavy Contrast series. Watch the Kosargi Nightwatch video to see how it happened to me there and how it wasn't really a problem.

I use cyanoacrylate usually when it's already painted. It won't destroy the paint like plastic glue will do for sure. If some cyanoacrylate spill out of the joint, wait for it to fully dry and then fix the spill but remember, less is more with glue

I know it’s a bit late, but can you tell me which model that was? I’ve been thinking about doing a group of Iron warriors myself.

How do you attach the weapon to the arms and backpack? superglue? or you scrab the paint off and apply plastic glue?
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures 2 жыл бұрын
You can apply plastic glue over the paint, it will malt it and the plastic underneath. But you can also scrape it a bit and use superglue. Both work well.

@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures plastic glue does work through paint and still melt it? Like Rewell? I through plastic glue does not work through paint.
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures 2 жыл бұрын
Yes it does, I do it all the time. It will melt the paint itself and the plastic underneath bonding everything together. It will take longer but it will eat through the paint.

@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures oh nice thank you, I always glue with plastic before as I don't want to use super glue, so now I can paint things separately and still use plastic glue, nice, thank you for this typ.
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, just be careful and asume it's going to dry slower. You can always scrape it a bit to make the bond faster.

Beautiful mini but too bright for Iron Warriors IMO. You could keen going with the shading and tone everything down. There is a delicate balance there but I was looking forward to a really dark iron effect.

I think it really depends what sort of look you are going for. This more comic / box art style reads really well on the tabletop. Grim dark and grungy works for single miniatures but can leave a whole army looking somewhat bland.
