Ebay item delivered by USPS but item not received? Check This First!

Welcome back to another ebay video. For some of you who ship and receive your items via USPS postal service (Continental North America or International), sometimes you might see the tracking number will show it was delivered but you didn't receive your item at your door. A little tip that people may not know is that USPS actually doesn't deliver directly to your door. They deliver mail/letters, parcels/packages to your mailbox and not to your door. If it doesn't fit, they may leave it next to your mailbox or if by special request from you, they can deliver it directly to your door. It may also be delivered to your local post office where you need to go pick it up.
In this case study, I had a buyer who opened an item not received case claiming they never received their order. After updating the tracking information and they saw it was with USPS, they checked their mailbox and it had been sitting there for about 8 days! They finally retrieved it and apologized to me because they thought it was going to be at their door. They also closed the case.
So if you are shipping or receiving via USPS postal service, always remember to check at your mailbox or post office mailbox / post box because your package could be there all this time and you didn't have to stress about why you didn't receive your package since USPS doesn't deliver directly to your door under normal circumstances.

I had the same issue, USPS said it was delivered to mailbox, the buyer said they never received the item. I check the location, it's a storefront, opened during the day..1st flag, 2nd flag they didn't open a case until 20 days later even though I shipped priority which means 4 days tops across the country...3rd I told them that maybe ebay insurance would cover it, but told them to wait until I could (ebay wouldn't allow me)...I went one day over and they opened another case against me saying I promised them this and this...and ebay ruled in my favor because I had tracking info that showed it was delivered..then they messaged me saying I promised them a refund (I didn't) I said I would try to take it up with insurance, they left negative feedback, ebay removed it...finally ebay said they would not honor insurance because item was shown as delivered. (it's out of their hands essentially), so I told buyer to take it up with their local USPS, maybe they placed it elsewhere.. I really can't do much more. btw I had insurance signature confirmation..so why it was delivered to mailbox or wasn't signed??? I feel like something is off in this case. Didn't have an issue with the other 40 people I sold to that week (other than a couple of damaged packages that I did a partial refund for them).

If you are shipping or receiving your package via USPS postal service and tracking says it was delivered but you didn't receive your package at your door, be sure you check your mailbox/post box or post office! They don't actually ship to your door unless there is a request to do so by you or special circumstances (like you are handicapped) or the package is too large to fit.

That's not always what happens. I had a package delivered by USPS 6 months late. Who knows what happened. Also, employees clicked 'delivered' because it makes their performance numbers look good. This is inside info im giving out.

Hey guys I am very clumsy and pockets are very annoying… yesterday when I at the movies another ebay customer messaged me and I replied quick. However I must of left the screen on and when trying to put it back into my pocket I marked another order as delivered when its with USPS on the way to the buyer. Now it says delivered and picked up for the tracking when it didn’t even leave California to go to the buyer. The buyer said I should just put “Not deliverd” and I shouldn’t worry because it should still be on the way. He/she have loads of review and feedback. Should I worry? It was my fault and a mistake.

If so how do I put the order as “Not deliverd”? I only see to put the option as not shipped. But I don’t want to do that because I already sent it to the post office and it’s on its way. Any help and feedback would be amazing. Thanks.

@@jeremybl4226 yes, there is an option in your order details to mark it as "mark not shipped". You can mark it shipped or not shipped as many times as you want. As long as you have a full tracking number to upload, just upload that and it will automatically be marked as shipped.

It seems it would be better to get a signature confirmation so in order to get the package they have to sign it for it. Ebay needs to protect it's sellers as well as buyers

Agreed. I've used USPS many times and overall they've worked well for me and because it's often cheaper (rates). But I have heard horror stories with USPS and how their customer service is very poor to non-existent, but I can say from my experience so far, I've received help from USPS support and they did end up calling me back after I left a claim/case inquiry and they helped me out.

Doesn't matter the carrier doesn't ring the doorbell and signs signature themselves it's really USPS sucks when there is is a sub on the route

yes, often USPS or other standard shipping services have a delay in updating their tracking information or sometimes never do! That's frustrating.

What if my item show deleted and sign by a initial i don’t even recognize

If this was delivered to a post office, storage/warehouse facility or a concierge/front desk/gate security etc., then I'd recommend you check with your people. If the address was to your personal residence and you don't recognize the signature, then I'd recommend you call the shipping service (if it was USPS, UPS, Fedex etc) and have them confirm or deny if the shipment was delivered to your correct address.

I did order one item on ebay no tracking number just mark the order shipped, and got email from ebay estimated delivery mar 8 to mar 9, now mar 10 i dont recieve the package yet then what i do ?

You can open an "item not received" case and you will get your refund if the seller cannot provide tracking number and proof of delivery.

I have a question 🙋🏼‍♀️. I sent out a package on Feb 1 this year via USPS and was delivered to their USPS on Feb 4th. Tracking was provided. I have on my settings “no international sales USA only”. So the buyers address to mail this package to is in NJ. Delivery to this facility has been made. Not picked up just says waiting for a scan? BUT I see that the buyers actual residence is in South Korea. I just got a request for a refund and I responded with the tracking number info and told them it was at their post office waiting for them to pick it up or they should call them for the info. eBay has put a hold on the amount of the transaction on my account now. I’m so frustrated and confused bc now I feel like I’m going to have to refund someone and never see my products again. I love my eBay but I’m seriously considering shutting it all down. They ALWAYS take the buyers side and in this case I just don’t possibly see how. Of course I acted immediately and responded with all the info and asked that the buyer please let me know and now nothing….. What do I do? It’s now March 23 now btw….. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Hi Toi! Thanks for asking. First, if the buyer's shipping address on their ebay account said it was NJ address and you shipped it there with full tracking number then if it was delivered to that NJ address, you should win the case. Next, if the buyer opened a case and didn't escalate it after 4 days (because that is when they are able to ask ebay to step in) and if there has been no activity in the case for 30 days, the case will automatically close in your favor! As long as you always ship to the correct shipping address with a full tracking number that shows it was delivered there, you don't have to worry about losing your money. Best of luck and hope you will continue your journey on ebay. It's stressful at times for sure but I think if we can learn something each time, we can improve and make things less stressful in the future. I'm always learning new things still on ebay even after 20 years!

as long as you have proof of tracking number that shows it was delivered, you'll be protected as the seller won't have to refund. If the buyer opens a case with their institution and wins that case, ebay will pay the refund and not you.
