As a seller, I've had this happen to me. I've also had USPS lose one or two orders that actually had tracking. As a buyer, I've been blocked only once for an order that I never received. Specifically by RealmsGames.

Thanks for making this video Rudy. I've not talked to anyone else about this subject so it was good to hear it from you. I have a full time + job as a manager at a very popular Italian restaurant that runs across America and loves Olives. ;) Giggidy. Any how, I also sell singles on the bay of E's as a fun part time deal. I just enjoy doing it. I learned the hard way that the USPS machines take your envelopes through a nearly 90 degree bend at some point during the machine sorting. Because of this, if you have a top loader in an envelope, that 90 degree bend will cause the top loader to rip through the envelope and your mail is now considered lost. The clause I use for my shipping of singles is if the card sells for $14.99 + I use tracking. Anything under that, I will always use a top loader but I use 70 cent non-machinable postage. This postage avoids the USPS machines. My percentage of being hosed for not using tracking is very very low, which is why I found it surprising that the viewer that sent the letter you were reading had been so badly hosed. Maybe he's just gotten very unlucky with his buyers, idk. Of all the non-tracking packages I've sent, 2.3% of those said they never received their envelope. I also keep blocked buyer list. About a year ago I decided it just wasn't worth it to sell the $1-$3 cards on the bay of E's. Between the charges from said bay, palpay, and postage, it just wasn't worth it. Instead I send those cards off to Starcity for their purchase credit plus the 30% as long as you take credit instead of cash. I let that account build up, buy a box or booster or two, have fun opening some cards and then rinse and repeat. I'm going to join your Patreon also because you give your patrons such great deals and because I really enjoy your KZbin content. =) Thanks for being awesome.

Rudy, eBay power seller here with 20 years of experience, don't forget that high value items ($250 or above) requires signature confirmation for delivery. I got scammed for a $4000 because I didn't require signature on delivery. Even though it was fully insured. Might want to put this tidbit in a future video so people don't get scammed this way, it works the same they just claim it was stolen from their mailbox. I am a lost and damaged freight liquidator, I make a living off of selling the items shipping companies lose or destroy. If you don't pack your item well and/or insure the item I have no sympathy for you. If you want a look into what happens when your stuff gets lost or damaged message me.

Luckily my business isn't MTG and I have large margins that allow me to keep selling. But I agree they are forcing out a lot of small businesses who simply cannot compete and it's sad.

@@TylerPlurden88 OUCH.. I stopped offering international shipping and only use ebay's global shipping program to ship internationally now. It has been one of the best things they have done in the past 3 years. Headache free and they are really good about lost or damaged items. They take all responsibility for the international portion of the shipment. Check it out if you can qualify for it.

Tracking doesn't stop the mailman or others from stealing it. I buy sealed boxes all the time and the usps kept saying they delivered . Well I ran down the mailman and he still had the package on him . He stole two packages and eBay didn't believe until I got a police report and sent it to them

Love your channel, been watching for 2 years.This was a really informative video. Ive been thinking about selling some cards on ebay myself. My girl already sells scrap booking stickers on eBay. We had a problem with lost envelopes that were too thick (>1/4 in). If you send the hard plastic toploaders they will get stuck in the sorting machines rollers. The solution is to add a 20cent extra ounce stamp and write non machinable on the envelope. Might just be better to skip the toploaders unless the cards are more than $5 or $10, and at that point you might as well make them pay the $3.60 or so for a first class package. That can eat into your sales severely if your $5 rare is now $8.60. If they order more than one card you can easily combine shipping. Also don't forget the eBay final value fee and Paypal fee. So your $5 rare actually only nets you $4 after listing and fees. Then there is the envelope and stamp. another $0.60. So $3.40 is what you would actually make on a $5 card.

I have been selling my collection on eBay . I have had about 100 transactions had a problem with 2 people one I know for sure scammed me . The other was just weird they complained that the card wasn't there yet opened a case . The case was closed then the very next day they said it arrived luckily they were nice and repaid for the card but still it put a ding on my account. That said stores can't always be trusted either I did a buy list of a lot of my yugioh cards and I had a first edition dark magician girl the store offered me 20 bucks for it yet it regularly sells for over 150 . Yes stores need make money but that is really ridiculous.

I keep thinking of things as I watch this video because I am a seller on eBay as well and you make some great points that I definitely can relate to. The whole shipping time thing is so frustrating. So many people will message you the next day and ask why you haven’t shipped some thing or a couple days later why I have an I got my stuff yet. It’s like people have never ordered something online before or they expect Amazon prime and think that everybody else can ship as quickly as they do. Most random sellers on eBay may ship a couple times a week they actually have to package things up themselves and drive up to the post office so I obviously they aren’t going to ship them as quickly as Amazon who have thousands of people working on orders. I actually had some idiot who actually thankfully left me positive feedback but wrote in the positive feedback that shipping was extremely slow and the thing that made me the most mad about it is he had message me multiple times and I messaged him back and told him that my actions clearly state that I have a couple days handling time and also I had put that it would be there within 7 to 10 days and not only got there within a week but he still had the nerve to write that it took to long to ship. It’s just insane dealing with some of these people and I really want to know what’s going through their head and why they can’t understand that things are going to show up on your doorstep within an hour

I managed a *brand name* pack-n-ship store for about 3 years doing 4 x-mas shipping craziness. In that time between the Post Office and then big contract carriers I had a grand total of 5 packages that went missing or were damaged that we packed and shipped. We were a decently busy store and before left I looked at the total number of shipments and we had done nearly 250,000. I'm still kinda amazed that the fault rate was that low when you hear people complain about shipping companies and the post office, it's actually pretty amazingly reliable.

Once I got an envelope that was weather-beaten and a slit wore through. the envelope was empty. Maybe 5 times, in very short succession, I got cards with very similar creases in different places. Like a BIG BEND crease. Musta been some sort of machine. Or the weight of other mail. Or a jerk postman.

Seems like every time I build a new computer, 1 part bounces around 10 different states in the opposite direction or is delivered to a similar address. I just got a message from a buyer that is saying their package did not arrive to them yet (Canada to the US) 2 weeks. I have a bad feeling about this one as the account is a reseller and am already getting ready to take it on the chin as I did not put tracking on it. This video made me feel better, and was timed perfectly with what happened to me. Just have to get over that possibility that I am either being scammed or the package will be delivered late, most likely due to customs, and I am going to have to refund it.

I've had incidents, where mail was sent to the wrong address, seller was adamant that they sent to the correct address, I was luckly enough to have good neighbors and when i received the package it actually had the incorrect address on shipping label. I did open up a case, but ultimately closed it once i received the product from my neighbor. The buyer was rude and was 100% sure they sent it to the correct address. I sent a picture after, buyer apologized profusely and refunded the initial shipping cost. But I had other incidents where another neighbor received the package because the mailman delivered it to the wrong address... so it does happen. Both times cases were opened, and closed after package is in hand.

I absolutely love this video! I had an issue with a seller on FB and through no fault by him, the cards went missing. I et the seller know and he offered a full refund but at the end of the day all I wanted was my Immortal Sun back to $20. 😭 Another case, I ordered a Fat Pack of Dragons of Tarkir from a seller that goes by "future ninja " on Ebay. When I received the package, I immediately was displeased by the order. The "Re"sealed package smelled like a truck stop bathroom and all the boosters were flimsy repacks. Fortunately after closer inspection, I was lucky enough to get a couple of the Dragonlord Dromoka and a Fetchland... can't remember which. I put a complaint in with Ebay but after deliberating the situation I opted to let it go. All I got was a lesson learned.

When I sold stuff on ebay, I liked to get tracking numbers but not update them on ebay unless asked. One time, somebody opened a claim saying they didn't receive their item. I updated with the tracking info that showed it was already delivered. They closed the case and apologized, saying it was at their apartment's front desk or something.

Mail often gets put in the wrong box, also if you envelope has cards in it to not be folded it’s called “non machinable” which means it’s hand sorted and a machine does not code it for the right place it’s done by a person

I have to comment here that my closest post office lost or missent about 5% of my packages and I've had letters returned insufficient address, check, send it out again same address and it arrives no problem. I had them loose 15 packages out of 60 sent on one day. But with tracking never had one problem. I have since changed post offices and had no problems. He may want to try taking his mail to the closest hub office.

Is all online business in america based on that shipping costs are included in the price? When i buy in europe it is always the product plus shipping to my location. A card can cost 2 cents but to get it i will pay 2 cents plus perhaps a euro and some to that price.

I've had my local post office lose multiple packages I've sent out, including a foil playset of Chandra from Kaladesh. Even some packages I included tracking on were lost! It's hard to sell and make a profit online nowadays with the fee structuring; unless I actually list as much as Grandpa Rudy which is not feasible for me unless I list 25 cent commons.

Totally relate to all of this. The only positive thing about eBay as a Business seller is that you can actually call in about an unfair negative feedback left and have it removed. Especially if you're account is consistently good. I don't want to praise them too much because the fees are beyond ridiculous, at least in the UK!

I've gotta say, I have legitimately had USPS lose tracked packages 3 times in 3 years. I lost about $150 total, and I've probably had about 500-700 packages in that time frame. I have found packages at neighbors houses before as well, but I just wanted to say that it does happen. I've never met more lazy or incompetent people than those at the USPS. Overall, your video is spot on outside of the 1 in 1000. Probably more like half that 1/500. Lastly, I have had sellers use scam tracking numbers before. They can use old/other numbers that show the package was delivered, but in reality, it's not even your address in there. Depending on the eBay/PayPal person helping with the case, you usually have to point stuff out like that. Most just check status and see delivered and close your case without looking more closely at the details.

I think the people who dislike Rudy are, for the most part, just jealous. He makes a lot of money doing what he loves and people love to hate on a winner. BUT, while Rudy is absolutely in the game to make money, he also gives away a lot of really good information for free. He gives people the chance to buy cheap boxes. It comes across in his videos that he genuinely wants the Timmys to be able to make better buying and selling decisions, and therefore make more money (or at least not get hosed while trying to enjoy their hobby). I personally think he's a good dude.
