I think the same on some of the abstract art that has a line in crayon but sells for 499-either laundering or some kind of drug dealing secret there. noticed the guy sold like 9 in a week very unlikely that people would pay anything for them much less $50-400

I wasn't aware of that aspect of eBay sales. Last week when researching Kindle tablets I saw one listed for 9,999.99. I thought that must be just a joke.

The last Beanie Baby I got was a hit, I cut the tags off, washed it, sprayed it with catnip extract - the cats loved it. My interest in selling them is slightly higher than pet rocks.

Thank you for this advice! I love to get your opinion on things like this. Plus it’s fun to hear you talk about your personal life. While the focus was on specific items it's also about looking at that listing-sold ratio. You have to find that nice place between 100 listed and zero sold to zero listed and 100 sold. Very productive lesson! Thank you!

I was so excited to find a Hello Kitty microwave for $30! But what a hassle it became! I tried to sell local but finally sold for $85 on eBay, with $80 shipping. I am happy it sold! I spent more than $80 shipping and hope it makes it there safely. After watching you I have learned to ask myself, "How am I going to ship this?" before purchasing now. Thank you!

I love selling typewriters. Writers and some people like to use them. Selectric IBMs are collectable. If I can get one for low and sell for a couple hundred ,or even 100 ...im happy . Also, selectric type writer balls ..I've made a lot of money on these. I think collectors and people with a genuinelove for typewriters would not consider it a waste. Some people want to make 50 to 100 dollars on typewriters and some on a dress. For beanie.babies, certain manufacturer flaws make these more desirable, believe it or not but generally are a waste...

Thanks for the advice. It is funny as I am watching this I have a brand new beanie baby teddy bear with the tag I rescued from the bins! I know that it is not valuable but I save things sometimes because I just can't stand the idea of them going into the landfill. By the pound it isn't a big deal especially with such a small item. I may just keep it. The punch bowls are always around, though most are in some sort of disarray. I knew not to bother with them. I have noticed because of the movie California typewriter the manual Smith Corona is going quite well!

I have to agree. Typewriters sell quickly for me and with good profits. With the proper packaging they aren't terribly difficult to ship--certainly no more so than, for example, computers. In fact, a typewriter was one of the first items I sold on eBay back in 2001. Also, as it is a fairly specialist market, buyers know what they want and what they are buying; I have never had a return or anything less than glowing feedback on typewriter sales. The low numbers of active listings seem like a good thing to me--less competition--and I don't see the logic in claiming a sell through of over 50% is bad, whatever the actual volume. On the other hand, if this video discourages other sellers from entering this field then _Good Job!__ Let's keep the profits for those of us already trading...

I'm sure it's not for everybody, but if I can find one for $10 or $15, I'd definitely be willing to box it up for $200. That's a good profit. I have sold a number of large bulky electronics though so that doesn't bother me too much.

I sold an IBM Selectric III electric typewriter in November (on a different platform) for $425. Considering I had less than 200 total invested, including servicing, the task of packing and shipping was not painful! There's been an uptick in typewriters, both electric and manual, but condition and research (as with virtually all used/vintage) makes the difference between a dud and a home run. I used to clip off the keys on anything with the old round glass covered keys, scrapping the carcass and get about $40 a set, selling to artists/crafters, but now keeping them on earns more even with shipping in many cases

I've collected Pfaltzgraff Folk Art pattern since the early 80's and use it daily. My late husband started the set for me when I mentioned liking it, so I will never stop using it. I still occasionally buy one of the larger pieces that I couldn't afford when I was young. You failed to mention that not all Pfaltzgraff is equal. The older pieces made in the US with the USA stamp on the bottom are the good stuff. The cookie cutter perfect stuff made later in China, not so much.

I've realized that a lot of times, the amount the sold listings CLAIM to have sold for isn't the actual price they sold for. I've got screenshots from several of my sold listings. What my own orders list shows is correct. But when I view my items in the "sold" listings, they sometimes have higher prices than the actual sold for price. It's annoying and misleading, especially when sourcing items to resell.

- I’ve sold Few vintage typewriters .... I didn’t think it was that big of a deal to ship. Those small portables you can usually go in for five or $10 and they almost always sell for 50 or 60 so I think it’s a good flip. However I agree some of those huge electric ones would be a problem.

It depends on what the figurine is, how much you pay for it and what your desired profit margin is. On the Money Making Monday videos, you will see those types of items selling for really good money. If it is something a collector wants, they will pay. Brands like Lladro, Hummel, Herend, Goebel, Radko, Disney, Royal Doulton, hand carved items, blown glass, art glass - can sell for thousands. It just depends on what it is.

The people that are listing items for stupid high prices.... look at it this way, it's a lottery that's free to play! You can list a certain amount of items for free on ebay. Now, $600k is probably not going to sell, but, people spend $2 on powerball tickets that have infinitely worse odds than someone buying that beanie baby. It costs you 10 minutes to list and... who knows. Keep dropping the price every week and see what it sells for. Can't win if ya don't play!
