@@robinblackmoor8732 I’ve seen it done before, usually some kind of twine that you can harden with glue. Games like Blood & Plunder have a pretty good sized crowd that go hard on sails and rigging, pretty similar I imagine.

Cancer survivor here. This hobby and the community was a great support for me. They held a charity tournament and it was during Covid so I limited exposure but going to pick up hobby supplies and talking with the guys at the store was an awesome respite. The look of shock and horror on my oncologists face at my wet pallet when I was getting some chemo infusions was hilarious. But the painting helped me get through a tough time. Truly a cool nod of respect to Jeff. it’s awesome to see the respect and support this community gives.

Man, I bought 3 auctions last year for around $700 shipped halfway across the US. TONS of models. Hundreds of 40k and AoS models and hundreds more of other wargames I didn't know at the time. As I'm sorting all this stuff out ( it was literally just dumped in 3 plastic totes ), I uncovered a WARLORD TITAN (minus the head) with all the gun attachments. I was expecting to flip most of this stuff for a huge profit. I found a DVD in the bin with the titan. It was from a hospital(?) ( didn't know they did this?) and it had the previous owner's name on it. I watched it, and it had notes about his disease and a picture of him and his son. He was my age, within the month, according to the sticker on the DVD. His son was my daughter's age-ish based on the photo on the DVD, and that shit rocked me. I realized I got this amazing deal because a dude, my age, died and left his son (probably plenty others)with these mementos and nobody knew what they were. Some were reallly, really, lovingly painted. I tried to reach out but the auction house wouldn't help me in that. IDK what much the point of this is, but this shit still sits on me. Tyler, the warlord titan, now stands tall over my Salamanders, and I hope he does you justice.

It really hit me too, i lost my dad March last years, I wake up crying every other night :( Its really hard and painting models, not just warhammer, makes it so much easier because my father was a model enthusiast for most of his life and made WW2 models and fighter planes and hung the planes in my room when i was a boy and introduced me to models and Warhammer at a really young age. I'm even tearing up and crying just writing this comment. Casey did us bad this time BUT I love Casey and his heart and mind is always in the good place for us all :)

I really like your tip about the prime and first layer. I did the same with my recent Thousand Sons army. I built everything, primed in gold, and then threw a wash and a super duper quick dry brush on every model. It made the task of painting the army seem so much easier because I could just grab a model whenever I had a half hour and finish it up.

i like it when you take on projects like this, because it's a kindly gesture that goes a long way towards disproving the standard modern era tropes about how "all gamer guys are 'problematic' and are The Problem". Mind you, there's lots of guys in Warhammer circles who gladly uphold that stereotype, but that's not my point. Good show, Casey, and this is another reason I follow your channel; you coming off as a really down to earth and modest fellow.

Please I need to know 1. Where is the miniature shown at 4:44 from? Who is the creator? 2. What is the resin used to get that color and quality?
@eBayMiniatureRescues4 ай бұрын
For sure! The mini is a One Page Rules Vampiric Commander on Abyssal Terror, here's the link: mmf.io/o/367375 really cool model, it prints in a few parts but the keying is perfect, they did a great job with it. The resin I used was Uniformation's Plant Based Resin. It's not the best, but the printer is probably making up for it. I prefer Phrozon Aqua 8K. But this is a mix of gray and red, I was switching from gray to red, which is more of a peach color anyway, not sure why they call it red. The quality comes down to the printer being top notch and the supports that OPR has are very easy to get off without hurting the finish too much. It's also worth noting that I printed this when my hobby space was probably 75*F and the printer heater was on. I dialed everything in with this range finder: www.thingiverse.com/thing:6023738 I printed almost the entire army in a few days because conditions were so nice, so that helped keep them looking good as well. Hope that helps!

I noticed you have isopropyl around all the time but don’t use it. I’ve been asking around. How long would you leave black primed models in that solution?
@eBayMiniatureRescues5 ай бұрын
Mostly it's for cleaning 3D prints after they come off the printer. Iso gets all the extra resin off of the minis before they go into the cure station. I also use it to clean my desks and airbrush stuff. For stripping it can be a little hit or miss. Sometimes it works perfectly and sometimes not so much. If iso doesn't work all the way, the degreaser usually does, and the other way around. As far as leaving models in iso, you can pretty much leave them in as long as you need to. Plastic won't get hurt, metal for sure won't. Resin can get soft though, so be careful how much you soak that stuff. Concentrated degreaser you can soak anything for as long as you want without any issues, or at least, none that I have noticed ever. Hope that helps :)
