@odin7412 жыл бұрын
It's important to seal in your base colors with gloss varnish before using any weathering involving white spirits. This is to stop your colors flaking away from the resin and undoing your work. It also helps when you're going back in to fine-tune your streaks and making them "clean" adjustments. I took 18 months to paint my Warlord! I reasoned that for the cost, it had to have maximum effort put into it to justify the expense lol. I went all out with weathering and battle-damage since a titan would be a prime target and would take fire, but not overdo it- remember that less is more when it comes to damage! It can be fun adding old rust, new rust, streaks and grime, paint-chipping, soot and corrosion to show age and use and adds a lot of history and character...
@seanbattista28735 жыл бұрын

AWESOME! You got a great effect with those fallout stencils- I've used them some but i haven't mastered them yet. Congratulations on cranking through this excellent project :-)

Thanks man, this was a very unique model and i feel lucky to have even worked on one. I saw that mineral spirits trick on, I’m pretty sure, an old schnauzer face episode. Truly a God-Machine. I know some people here dislike the choice of colors, but I actually like it - I imagine the various Titan Legions would have wildly varying color shcemes, not always bold or GRIMDARK colors. Makes it feel more realistic in a sense, less like a Saturday-morning cartoon.

When doing the heat discoloring technique you should take into account the thickness of the different parts of the barrel, due to aircooling many parts like ridges and indrectly attached rods would not reach a high enough temperature and thus retain a lower heat color or no discoloring at all. Just looks a bit weird in my opinion.

When you first started laying down that green I thought we were in for a rave themed titan but it ended up looking really regal and worked brilliantly with all the weathering. Amazing work. I can't believe you managed to keep the amount of weathering, colour and quality consistent over such a vast area.
@eBayMiniatureRescues5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! If it was my personal Titan I would have gone nuts lol. But in this case Josh and I agreed on the colors before I started. Some advice. When you're trying to do the heated metal look, barrel heats up from firing. First spray on a base of Metallic Titanium or Metallic Silver enamel. Then do light coats of the fading effect colors. Just enough to get the look but not so much it covers the metallic. I build model airplanes and this is how I do engine exhaust cowlings. The same effect can be applied to cannons and such. It looks fantastically realistic when you finish.
