I actually enjoyed the game :D It definitely had flaws, though I did not experience any input lag or any issue going through the platforming segments. I do, however, agree on the difficulty, which can feel all over the place at times, though it is mainly frustrating at the beginning. For me, it is a charming metroidvania with an interesting premise that doesn't really tread any new ground, but I liked it nonetheless!

I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Maybe the difference we experienced in the controls is due to my playing the game largely before more updates were added to review copies. It wasn't until I had already put around 4 hours into the game that an update added text to the signs that tell you which direction a certain area is in. I finished playing the game with a considerable amount of time before the embargo was lifted, so I may not have experienced any later patches that might addressed the control issues. Playing it gave me the impression that it was an unfinished game that was being rushed out and the developers were trying to finish more of it before the official release date.

@@ophidianmind333 That could be it. I managed to experience the game after their latest patch while I was doing my review, so I didn't get across many glitches or any crashes. That being said, the game certainly could have been much better in various areas!

Between that and Stardew being my go to (not that I don't play either most of the year round but I get the most cozyness at Christmas with them lol) I would love to add something new and different to that mix every now and then :(

So im playing on PC/Steam and there seems to be no way to exit the game or return to title screen. So I have to task kill it to get out of it. Am I missing something? This happened to me in another game (Grime) and I finally realized which button I had to press. Cant find a way out of this game without having to task kill it... 🤔

Playing it right now and actually liking it. Controls feel a little clunky but imo the idea of a seasonal metroidvania is quite charming. Regarding your critique: He does not use his own wealth to aid the workers?! Come on, give the devs a break here! If you're in it for realism why not argue the clunky controls immerse you as an elderly protogonist? 😂 Seriously, the game is way better than this review makes it out be.

This game had good potential. But it feels like a short sighted game. Its like they rushed to meet a deadline and just did their best to include the best they could. In conclusion though, its a good $10 experience (maybe not $20). The fun in metroidvania games is that you explore and find items that powers you up or gives you abilities to advance the map. And with the new more soulsvania games, the mastery of skills and patern driven competitive boss fights. This game has those elements (minus the competitive boss fights).

I like the premise as well and I really wanted to like this game. It's just that this probably needed a few more years in development before it would be in a state that is ready for release. The reason I was so harsh is because it is ridiculous for them to expect people to pay for a game in such a broken state and I don't want to see gamers get ripped off.

That's why refunding games is so cool on steam. You can actually try games out beforehand. Had no controls issue on steam though, what platform did you play it on?

After speaking to another reviewer, it seems there have been updates added after I had played it to address some of these issues. I did get some updates while playing the game, at first the signs didn't even have text on them in the original version of the review copy that I received. It seems like the game wasn't finished before submitting it for review and maybe they added an update to fix the controls after I had played it.

This game have very Beautiful 32bit HD 2D graphic. Very detailed handdraw arts style, expensive quality. I like it! is fun😊 I can't believe Bloodstained ROTN doesn't even look like this..😭

This review is far from subjective. The game is not terrible, or even bad. It was pretty mid but also pretty fun. I do agree with the plot being a bit shallow, and with some audio getting annoying, but that's the only negatives I agree with. I played on PC and the difficulty never felt too extreme, also had no issues with input lag or the balloon platforming. The game never even felt particularly difficult for me until the final area. The art style was beautiful, it's entirely hand-drawn with a storybook style... whoever wrote this must be "a lot of fun at parties" 🙄🤣 jesus christ bro chill xd

I hope the dev does find it because I want them to know that it is ripping people off to expect them to pay for a game in this state. I actually didn't enjoy being harsh, but I did so because I don't want to see people get ripped off by spending their money on a nearly-unplayable mess. This dev needs to do better and wait until a game is in a finished and fully playable state before releasing it. I wanted to like this game and maybe it could have been decent if it had about 3 more years in development because there is a lot in this game that needs to be redone completely.
