Eberhard Weber & Paul McCandless
Berlin Jazz Festival
Berlin, Germany
1995-05-11
Professionally recorded performance on unknown equipment
Eberhard Weber-bass
Paul McCandless-reeds
Original notes: "Eberhard Weber just had his 83rd birthday a few days ago. The material in this show seems to come mainly from 2 of his albums, Pendulum and Orchestra.Seven Movements.I've corrected the date from 11-05 to 05-11, as that's what's shown on Paul McCandless's own website. That also reveals the performance to have been part of the "Berlin Jazz Festival".
McCandless and Weber had teamed up by that point for a couple of Weber's albums and projects. McCandless, of course, is the reed player associated with the band Oregon, but he's done lots of work with others, ranging from Jaco Pastorius's Big Band to Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. No dj or audience appears on these tracks, so it's unclear if this was a radio broadcast, so somehow intended for release. In any case, it's a fine recording of 2 great players in a rather rare kind of duo configuration.
My copy of this came in a cd-r trade long ago, but this had been on DIME in 2005 and 2007 via rommedoe and jmgdiscs. Thanks to whoever recorded this, and to those who've kept it going in the trading community. Please support these artists by purchasing their commercially released material and by paying to see them live."
Thanks to jswetch, rommedoe and jmgdiscs.
