I agree there is a lot of confusion about bunions and yes, bunionettes. I have dorsal bunions with bumps on the top of my big toe and turning in of the big toe in both of my feet. One foot was easier to stay most of the time straight with VFF shoes, the other big toe is correcting itself as well. After 2 plus years all of my toes are spraying out as well and my toe muscles have come back. I do short foot exercies daily now and can move my intrinsic muscles as well as flex my tibia joint. All this from mostly wearing VFF shoes all the time for 2yrs, 2 months. I have built up my leg muscles as well and my hip joints no longer hurt when I walk up 1500 foot elevation climbs on 6-12 mile mt. hikes. The answer is no more narrow toe boxes and wear thin soled shoes with toe pockets. This in the answer for many people .

Can you explain why severe bunions can't be corrected without surgery?
