I understand that this method only works in some frames. I had a carbon bike with the Aston Rider kit and I switched it to a bamboo bike in 10 minutes and I didn't have to cut any cables

On the E7000 its actually lights off to activate, lights on to de-activate,, and this vid is for the E8000 ... fitting to E7000 is found on the crank side.. i will post a vid showing how to get to the place to fit this kit, Going back to how to activate.... if your bike doesn't have lights like my VooDoo Zobop E the SpeedBox will be on constantly activated.

You’re going to need a tool to remove the chainring and crank, other than that it’s just three Phillips screws. Refer to the video on the website, but don’t replace the speedometer.

Hello. First of all, we strongly advise against updating the software. However, if you don't have the lights activated on your e-bike from the factory, you could visit your bike shop to have the lights activated with a diagnostic tool. Of course, uninstall SpeedBox from the e-bike first 🙂

@@leescoey Hi. The non-continuous motor thrust may be related to one of the previous updates, but we cannot determine this with certainty from a distance. In any case, it is normal for Shimano motors that the tachometer does not show the real speed. This is influenced, among other things, by the small size of the connectors. In the case of the SpeedBox 1.2 for Shimano, the increase in speed and motor assistance will be continuous.

@@hvdmey It appears they are all different. With mine it was a matter of getting the right screws off and the whole thing became exposed. There were a couple of screws that were kind of obscure if I remember right. Been a long time

SpeedBox must be installed into the speed sensor and lights. In this video you can see that speed sensor connector has a specific shape. This specific shape is typical for all the Shimano motors, even E7000.

Tested on my Ep8 2021. It worked 15km then the motor indicated an error E050. Witch is directly linked to the detection by the motor of the tunning kit. Finally obliged to send back the motor to Shimano France.. Impossible to delete the error code at my bike shop... For me I stopped using tunning kit on my Ep8... But you can test if you want to block you motor.. Sorry for this bad news

If your bike is not equipped with lights, the Light menu can be enabled with help of Shimano diagnostic tool. If you're interested, please contact your local Shimano dealer. Anyway, this is not actually needed. SpeedBox will work even when the Light menu won't be enabled.

If what you are suggesting is anything like doing the same mod on a Bosch motor than to each their own. I did the magnet & sensor mod on my Bosch activeline plus and the gauge no longer functioned properly. The speed readout was always incorrect as was the range remaining. The tuner allows for your gauge to read properly and you don’t have ugly zip ties and odd wire loops to get your sensor to read off the crank. The $125 I paid was totally worth it to me to have my expensive eBike perform far better than stock and have everything work as designed.
