went for a longish ride. went 39.1 km(24.3mi) averaging 28.6 km/h(17.7MPH) ended with ~25% battery left(50.3v).

nice work on the conversion. I like the modification you did with the brake switch. One thing I was wondering about is why you had the wires come up out of the hub motor as opposed to down out of the hub motor. I would have thought to come out down who prevent rain clinging to the wires from going right into the hub motor. The way you have it.. it seems the water would naturally want to run along the wires and drain into the hub motor? I am also wondering how you got the torque arm over the connectors coming out of the hub motor. was it just the one black connector? did you have to do any workaround to get it through the hole on the torque arm axle mount?

Ebikling regular wheels come with a warning on the rims that say they are for rim brakes only. They do come with disc brake hub motors.

Great video Doug. However having the controller in a bag blocks air flow over the heatsink fins. But in your cold climate that doesn't matter (but for me it would being in a hot climate).

is that arm installed right ? shouldnt the torque be making the arm pull against the fork not push onto it,thats why there is a strap ,installed right the strap could snap if the torque is so high because its suppose to pull

I like what you did with the brake levers, I have hydraulic brakes on my bike which are incompatible with those sensors, but what you did is a nice little work around.

I just got the kit thinking I could install it. Folks, if you're not handy dandy don't buy this. You're going to waste your time. Most of these videos does not show how the wheel does not have an axle and it's incredibly thick, so it does not fit most modern bikes. It's only held by bolts. Second, disc brakes are not compatible with the front wheel kit. They're rubbing. No matter what I did with the brake it kept rubbing so I had to take it off. Third, battery is extremely big and by big I mean it's as big as a friqin PS5. It does not fit into a normal MTB frame. I had to zip tie it down but that's only a temporary fix cuz how you gonna charge it? Remove zips and reinstall everytime? No way. Forth problem, the kit is ancient. It comes with brakes that has those little buttons as sensors in it. But most modern bikes now have the break and the shifter together. So if you don't know how to solder and glue and tinker like this guy you're fucked. Fifth problem, I have installed the wheel, the battery and the controller and my bike is so heavy, it must be around 40-50kg! If your motor turns off on a hill. ..... Good luck. Long story short, do not waste your money. The tools you need are much more than they show in these videos, you need to buy those too, and the time and energy you will put into it it's just not worth it. I'm gonna send everything back and save up for a decent ebike.

Awesome video! I got the 36v 750 watt kit and a 36v 8 amp hour battery, it’s fun! But the system cuts out after continuous throttle for more than 20 seconds and pedal assist doesn’t work. Do you have any ideas?

If the pedal assist doesn't work it's most likely that you put the sensor backward, not sure about the 20 seconds on the throttle, could be you set a really low-speed limit like 25km/h in the display.

yes 50-52 kph throttle alone on flat ground. at thoes speeds i cant pedal fast enough to help. downhill ive hit 68kph .

@@DougHnut What are your thoughts between this brushless hub setup compared to your mid drive Bafang setup?

Hub is cheaper and more efficient/faster. Mid drive has better weight distribution and can take advantage of lower gearing. Basically better for off road. I prefer hub drive for most of my riding mainly because it's faster.

Doug, I don't want to use the crank sensor, old school, I just want the throttle without the crank sensor also I'm not going to use the break lever cut off just because my set up is somewhat different. I am using mine in a Velomobile, not a bike. Would the system work without input from the crank sensor? I've done other kit and left out the break cut off and it worked fine but it has been a long time since I've installed a kit and never dealt with a crank sensor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Doug, will this Hub Motor work with an Joyisi 48V 20AH E-Bike Battery for 1500W Bike Motor, Lithium ion Electric Bike Battery with Charger, Taillight, BMS Protection Board, Battery Level Light and Safe Lock? Nice build. I electrified mine 3 years ago now. I run the BBHSD and my wife runs a BBS02. Both 52v. What is your top speed I see average speed of 17.7 mph just curious what you can get out of that hub motor on flats with a 52v battery. We are limited by gearing with the mid drives. 34 mph with 42t and 11t.

When I use my 52V 17Ah battery for the same kit and the motor clicks when it turns on and clicks when I try to use the throttle. But the motor doesn't spin can anyone help?
