I spent a year hunched next to my record player transcribing this record which my then guitar teacher presented me. I was 15, and I was 16,5 when I finally "got" it...a lifelong devotee of John Ji

Its funny cuz I love mahavishnu and John McLaughlin but I also love velvet underground and Lou reed so it’s interesting seeing the connection with fernando Saunders as he both played with John and Lou. Idk I find that interesting they both seem like worlds apart.

Oh thank you!! I saw this band in London and remember it as one of the best gigs I ever saw!! This proves it!!! Shanker was the perfect foil for McLaughlin, who was at his peak on electric guitar for me.... Beautiful!!!!

I was also at that concert, Rainbow Theatre and Swift were the support band. I melted when John played My Foolish Heart solo.

The second lineup of One truth Band is one of the best bands of all time for me, love McLaughlin's playing, think he was at a peak at the time, his playing then evolved in other directions as well. Also, for me it is the most mature combination of Electric Western and Indian music.

They were great, but the first lineup with Sonship and TM Stevens was explosive.

A Gibson ES335 with a scalloped fretboard, one of his favourite guitars to play. He ran it through a single Marshall valve head into a Marshall 4 x 12 angled cab when I saw this band in London the same year.
