You may not see this but Lonesome dove is tied for my most favorite book of all time. It is absolutely astounding. It’s tied with shadow of the wind because they are kind of the same, nothing exists in a vacuum. everyone has a backstory and those backstories have backstories; the side characters have side characters. Shadow is a coming of age, while Lonesome Dove is a changing of the time; one is a sunrise and another a sunset and I honestly can’t tell which is more beautiful!!!!

All of my books come from the library! It's my favorite place. And then when I really love a book I get to try to hunt for it at the used book store. You have such beautiful special editions in this video.

A Sorceress Come to Call was one of my fav this year! I listened to the audio. Didnt like Nettle & Bone too much but I’m wanting to read all her books. I agree, the short fantasy stories are so fun.

Hey, I just preordered the sequel to Foul Days from Owlcrate, and they are a matching set. So you don’t have to worry about them mismatching 😉

I have a lady at a flea market near my house, Mass markets are $1, and hard covers are $3, she also likes SFF so I'm lucky because she has a good variety :D, I bough almost my entire collection of Dragonriders of Pern from her which is A LOT of books all for $1 each.

I love Bookmans! I got to the ones in Tucson all the time. Especially this summer when they had the promo of buy 9 books get the 10th free. And I've also been really enjoying the access of libby on my kobo. They've made checking out books so much more accessible. I'll have to check out that other bookstore when I'm in Phoenix. Maybe once the weather becomes nice again

When you mention how we hate when people upcharge books on pango reminds me when someone was selling their arc of Fourth Wing when it was all the rage. And someone else ACTUALLY BOUGHT IT FOR A THOUSAND DOLLARS. still stuns me to this day🤣

Bookman's is my go-to local bookstores. They are starting to sell more and more new books, too! Also, Zia Records can have a pretty good book selection 👍

I hate when people buy special editions and then sell them for 3x their value. Drives me crazy! Thanks for calling them out hahaha 😂 I also recently bought Lonesome Dove at a thrift store, but only because Michael from The Office says that it’s Holly’s favorite book 😂

Lonesome Dove is a great book. I was initially surprised when I heard Abercrombie say that McMurtry was one of his influences, but when I really thought about it, it actually made sense. I can see it most in his character work. Especially a complex character like Glokta. Streets of Laredo is also excellent.

I loved both Foul Days and The Dollmakers! Actually I'm having a really good luck streak with ARCs that they are all great: The Scarlet Throne, The Teller of Small Fortunes, The Last Dragon of the East, enjoyed all of them. Now I've just gotten A Cruel Thirst and I hope it doesn't disappoint.

Westerns don't interest me but funnily enough lonesome dove is also on my tbr as of 1 month ago. I was looking for audiobook recommendations and it was highly praised, even by people who also don't like westerns

I watch you and few other booktubers for recommendations then I make a wish list on Amazon, so I have the list everywhere I go, then I wait for them to go on sale, usually 6+ months after come out they go on sale, if wait a year they can be $10 or less, sometimes find good deals second hand…waiting doesn’t make the story less interesting, so I have a ton TBR now (some with audio) & great list to look for makes it even better when find deal. Just got the lake house hardback for $6 normally $21 & tress of the emerald sea hardback for $10 normally $25 both new copies anyway thx for more recommendations 👍🏻🤓

Hello I've heard that the last war trilogy by Mike Shackle is akin to Abercrombie work As for Foul Days the 2nd book will be released on October 22 (you didn't mention it in your anticipated release so I thought you didn't know 😊)

I just finished The Last War trilogy. I can see the comparison, but I would say this might be more unrelenting in terms of dark content. The characters are good, but not as good as JA’s, and I would have loved a little humor like in JA’s. Also, the audio books are fine, but no one will ever beat Pacey’s rendition of JA’s works!

Dollmakers was an interesting read. I like the world building being trickled in after the initial small dump at the beginning. The middle of the book got a little muddy for me, but i think the start and finish were tremendous. Be prepared though, the main character is VERY UNLIKABLE and at times infuriating how much she misses the point.

I like Kingfisher's books they kind of feel semi autobiographical or at least she is the hero of her own stories.

I'm reading A Sorceress Comes to Call and keep wanting to DNF it, but I think mostly because I had a very controlling mother and it's a little triggering... but it's T Kingfisher! I have to keep going bc I know it will pay off. I have had the same experience with her books opening my eyes to how good a shorter book can be! Also, I put Lonesome Dove on my TBR after seeing a whole thread of people on Reddit talking about how good it was. My mom was obsessed with that movie growing up so I would never watch it again, and would never have thought to read it, but soooo many people rave about it (already in the comments here too lol) so I want to give it a try.

I don't know if this would help or only make things harder for you, but you could create a business e-mail account where you'd only receive business stuff. I personally get very overwhelmed by receiving messages in general, so I have 2 different e-mails for different purposes. That allows me to prioritise and know what to check first :)
