Just use the Tonic Types menu categories to make a green or blue background tonic. I believe that 5 green tonics will trigger a blue background formula, and 4 blue tonics will create a purple background formula, at least for the initial instance of the new formula. Once a new formula pops up, you do not need to make the lower level tonic anymore (unless you're doing this because you need to replenish a lower level one). Wasting reagents is what leads to frustration in the game. The Tonic Types menu shows you in real time that you have unlocked a new formula.

How do you discover the green tonics you are missing in the first place? It's pretty straight forward to level them up to purple ones but no guide on how to make new green ones you dont have.

When doing the taste test, I have been turned into a chicken as well as a toad (just like Captain Jacobson). Does anyone know if using a tonic during gameplay increases the amount of reagent materials earned from that specific activity?

Theirs a Triumph for making Tonics in week 1, craft as many as you can. Earn re-agents from 50 level onslaught underlight at Eventide in Europa. The enemies say 2030 but their 2010. I completed it matchmade level 2002.

Um.. I think you have to make each green tonic five times to unlock the blue version. ...seems like that's how it's working so far. I'll run all three Characters (Warlock, Titan, Hunter) through Act I to help me gather Materials faster (and in a less boring way).

I wish someone could explain to me why in Act 1 I got a tonic machine upgrade only on my warlock that fit in the first spot on top far left of the machine. Then In Act 2 I recieved the second upgrade on all three of my characters that went in the spot on the top right next to the machine. So my warlock added 2 upgrades and my Hunter and Titan only added the most recent one and are missing the first one

As soon as I had to make 'tonics' I was like WTAF????? Why oh why in a gun game am I running around a room brewing buffs. I want to fight bad guys and earn loot. As in a LOOTER SHOOTER!!!!! Remove the tonic system... Remove the back and forth speaking to different vendors.. remove all-time gated missions remove all restrictions on guardian rank that way free to play players are able to modify their character and feel at least like they can keep up with the rest of the group there is nothing to do for a free player.. there's not even a campaign for a free player

These crafting events are always unintentionally cryptic and it's so fking annoying, it's never explained well and the UI is as terrible as always. I've been playing since the beta and you would think after 10 years that they would have figured this out by now. I had got my hopes up with Into the Light because the weapon focusing and the track to super black was actually easy to follow and you didn't need to watch 2 hours of youtube guides 🤦
