I was 13 when I listened to the Beatles on the radio in 1963. I instantly fell in love with them. "I want to hold your hand" and "She loves you" were my first single. Now I am 73 and I play "Let it be" and "Hey Jude" and "Imagine" on the piano in a retirement home and people still love it. This music is timeless and I am so happy to have experienced it in my youth..... greetings from Germany, Monika.

I grew up with the Beatles music & had most of their records. They were part of the British Invasion. You can't go wrong with any of their music. They had so many great songs in the 60's. This song is the title track from the final studio album "Let It Be" that was released on May 1970, almost a month after the group's break-up. It had a lot of good songs on it. "The Long & Winding Road", "Get Back", "Across The Universe" etc.

They were the ones to kick the doors open for all the other British Bands!

Though this song is loaded with religeous musical ellements, it has nothing religeous in its words. Paul is singing about memories from home. His mother, who's name was Mary, would put on "The Sound of Music" sondtrack (a musical film with Julia Andews and lots of kids, set in preWar Austria) and she had a pet phrase, to counter any and every worry - Let it be - like leave it, things will work out on their own...

Paul's mother was called Mary. He had a dream of her saying 'let it be'. So the underlying theme isn't religious, though they made it ambiguous deliberately and played with the religious imagery. :)
@patticrichton1135
@patticrichton1135 Жыл бұрын
Paul never deliberately made it ambiguous when he wrote it, it was simply about him dreaming of his mother Mary saying "Let it Be' It wasn't until he saw that some people were taking it as referring to the VIRGIN MARY and feeling it was a religious song, that he stated in interviews that it wasn't his intention, that he was referring to his mom, but he said it was OK with him, if some people think of it in the religious vein and that it is the Virgin Mother.

Paul McCartney lost his mom Mary when he was 11 or so. He was having a bad time of it and dreamed his mom came to him and said almost what you said. Basically when something bigger than you has come to trouble you learn that it might not be a problem for you to deal with so just let it be. This was one of George's best solos. I can without a hint of hesitancy recommend any and all the Beatles library of music. So ENJOY!!!!!!!

Sometimes a music video helps, sometimes it hurts. I like how you rearranged to the views in this one that helped the viewer see the immediate reaction and enjoyment you seemed to be having to this true classic. More Beatles! "I am the walrus". A john lennon song with his vocals so much different from Paul McCartney's "Let It Be". The words to "I am the Walrus" make little sense as intended, but the song is a psychedelic, musical masterpiece in my opinion. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmKtnmibpa-lZ5I This one is without video as well. Don't worry, the video will be created in your head. Lol.

"choir" And you don't need to give the "poor excuse for a human being'" name, it's what he wanted, notoriety. We fans NEVER speak his name or mention it when writing about John's murder. So kindly refrain from that. People can always look up John's senseless murder and find out the name of John's murderer. I usually just say what I said above in quotes when I refer to him, or just call him "a crazy man" as you did. You could have stopped there and leave his name out. Thanks

I remember hearing this song for the 1st time back in middle school in the seventies. Was already a fan of the early Beatles from the sixties, this just pushed it higher.
