According to the Kickstarter, they are planning on versions that accommodate the Apple Pencil in the charging position.

I love the iPad Pro and I use it quite often but it is not a MacBook Pro replacement . Using it with a mouse is useless , although it has access to file system , the workflow is not so intuitive due to lack of communication between apps . I think it is better to invest in a MacBook or MacBook Pro rather than spending an awful lot of money in devices that make the iPad too heavy and bulky . I myself have bought the Brydge Pro and I think it makes the iPad too heavy . Another thing , why using a trackpad when using a pencil is the main advantage of the iPad ... ? But that’s my personal opinion .

With you 100% been using the keyboard with track pad for a week. The os is not designed to work that way. Samsung Galaxy tab has a better implementation of mouse and keyboard plus the os feels more naturally supportive of it. But switching back to the keyboard. The selling point for me is the USB C hub. I use the dongles multiple times a day. This is much easier.

I’m in your camp. Too much weight and the cost is nearly a week spec’d MacBook. So the question is why not just get the MacBook? I guess if you only have an iMac this is a temporary option. But iPad is about size and portability. This takes that away by a long shot.

I'll stick with my Brydge and USB C Hub which attaches to the iPad on the top right hand corner and side and my Bluetooth mouse. Brydge also just introduced a keyboard with a trackpad. This keyboard is nice, but it doesn't offer Pencil charging [yet}, which makes it a non-buy for me at this time.

A shame a version is not available for the 9" iPad pro - or that the mount could not simply extend to accommodate a smaller form factor 'screen'.

Ok so a few notes of constructive criticism for the company - I'm very interested in the product but these two things would really elevate it. The first is that it needs some kind of opening at the top for the pencil. That's really a deal breaker for me and many Pro users. The second is something that could be resolved rather easily - make the iPad and keyboard detachable! Instead of having the USB connection with the keyboard directly into the power port, use a ribbon cable to have the USB C connection occur in the hinge and use magnets to stabilize the whole thing. If you really wanted to get fancy with it you could make a double USB C connection on the left and right side of the hinge so the detachable iPad can be flipped over and reattached in reverse for sketching etc.

Most external hubs for the iPad Pro actually continue to draw power when plugged in to the iPad even in standby. As this is permanently connected I assume that this is the same, so surely your iPad Pro battery is going to drain much quicker. Is this the case?
@Carluena5 жыл бұрын
Yes, definetly.

Yeah, they should make physical key at the side of the keyboard where u can manually switch off.
@hearditb43 жыл бұрын
@@mirasam3370 There is a psychical key at the side. It is lettered H for hub. You can turn it on or off. Plus the keyboard has its own battery so even if the hub is draining the battery it will drain the keyboard first then the ipad.

I guess I don’t get it. If you need a MacBook, get one. If you can get by with an iPad, get one. I don’t understand why so many people try to turn their iPad into a Mac.

For guys like me who have an iMac and mostly use the iPad for it’s tablet capabilities and portability, but have instances where I want on the go laptop like capabilities without having to buy one. Not sure why that flexibility for iPad owners would cause anybody consternation.
@trublupennstatefan14385 жыл бұрын
Darren Albertson okay, that I see. I bought the iPad to replace my MacBook. And the reason was portability and challenging myself to learn the work flows of the iPad as a Laptop replacement. I didn’t get the iPad to turn it into the laptop. A good iPad Pro is just as expensive as a MacBook when you factor all the accessories needed. Anyway thanks for the enlightenment and use case.

@@hearditb4 or vice versa once apple gives touchscreen and pen support and ios compatibility with Matchbooks, there will be no need for ipads, really the only reason ipads exist is because of touch and pen support, and cheaper phone based low memory iphone apps. Once a macbook air has all of that functionality, more memory, full desktop apps, and ipad apps, and more ports, headphone jack, hopefully detachable keyboard, ipad days are numbered. much more durable.
@hearditb43 жыл бұрын
@@Tigerex966 Realistically tho macbook will never get any of that. Thats what sells the ipads. Ipads have the portability too which macbooks dont have. Thats why you can upgrade the ipad to make it seem like a laptop but when you start making the laptop like a ipad then it stops becoming a laptop
@Tigerex9663 жыл бұрын
@@hearditb4 True, however, I do see Apple maybe allowing touchscreen and pen support and 120hz, on a top model meaning ultra expensive macbook in the future, mainly because they are like 15 years behind on windows with touch screens, and high rez screens on laptops, and the m1x and m2 will probably have insane gpu power close to the windows series meaning games, 3d cad etc, all which can be made better with touch and high refresh, for pros who do not want to lug a meaning and a macbook around. And they use to make fun of the surface, and convertible laptops and tablets, and large screen phones, and many android features, yet eventually they adopt them, much later, and usually better implemented, after the cost has went down, and the beta testing is done by the other guys. even the iPhone came quite a bit after the lg Prada which was the first all touch smart phone, it even had downloadable apps and bluetooth, things the iPhone needed another 2 years to add, but it did not have multi touch gestures or max osx lite IOS, and apple's clean design, and the best sales man and marketing in the world Steve Jobs. Apple had the Newton tablet way back in the day, so Jobs knew what he was doing.
@hearditb43 жыл бұрын
@@Tigerex966 Yeah i fully agree with you the Macbooks do need an upgrade of some sort as nothing new has really been added to them. Even if they were to just merge ipads and macs and make it a Macbook where you could take the screen off and theres your Ipad. But yeah i agree too Apple eventually implements things even after joking about them. It’s the same with everything in life, normally someone will pitch an idea and everyone will laugh at them. They all keep laughing until everyone starts following. And they eventually do. Hats off to Steve Jobs.
