“When Em’ shouts out people don’t Google.” I did. I started out an Eminem fan and became a rap fan. From Em’ I discovered Tupac, Rakim, OutKast, Jay-Z etc. He opened the door into hip-hop for me and I will never be ashamed of that, only thankful.

@Aden Sandoval You sound crazy as hell....'white boy rap" FOH!!! I've been into hip hop before day one. I do know Em is apart of hip hop history. He's the growth of what hip hop has become today. He's a throwback of real lyrics and storytelling. The issue of today is record companies mainly promote mumble rap and dumb down music with just a beat. The problem is that the general public is accepting it. Hearing Em's lyrics which can have double and sometimes triple meaning can blow some people's minds. Respect the art form.

Sadly it’s always gonna be a situation when White people will overrate Eminem and Black people will underrate Eminem and the debate will just continue on and on and on and on if he belongs up there with the greats. Me personally as a big hip hop fan, he’s up there in my Top 5. But everyone has their own taste/opinion and that’s totally fine. We all enjoy whatever we want. Unfortunately there are just gonna that select bunch who will praise him for the wrong reasons and criticize him for the wrong reasons. Just enjoy the music and if you don’t then keep it moving.

They cant take critisim and rarest knows anything about hiphop which is what makes People mad and hate om Eminems content. I also Think eminem is a funny thing to talk about because sometimes he makes apselutely horrible Music and sometimes he makes apselutely phenomenel Music. Theres no denying his one of the Best hiphop artists ever but not top 5 in my book but its subjective and i go for other things then what eminem has to offer. Still listening to all his albums though

@@OmarAngelGarcia the thing is, it's a numbers game. I don't know if you know this, but white people are the majority population in America. So by default. A lot of fans are gonna be white just because he is white. That's just a fact. The black artists get those fans, but there's a skill barrier they have to overcome to get those same fans that Em gets. It's just psychological. People gravitate more to those that look like them. So in America, until we're completely homogeneous racially. It's always gonna be about color. I ended up listening to people like Lakim Shabazz who spoke nothing but uplifting black people, because of Eminem. Eminem is hip hop! Theres a disconnect with alot of these haters who go around calling him a vulture, who doesn't understand thip hop, and this infiltrator attempting to harm the culture. People just see skin color and form their verdict, like "yup he's the de vil." Eminem probably has more in common with some of the beliefs of people like Lord Jamar if theyd just sit and talked, but Jamar is such a hater that there's no hope.

I don't think that it's better than The Eminem Show, but I agree with the rest of your statement. Lyrically, Kamikaze is just as dope as Music To Be Murdered By but it just isn't as long, which I guess could cause it to be overlooked in his discography. Sonically though, The Eminem Show is his best and most consistent album front to back. What's unique about Eminem is that he evolves his skillset with every album to the point that he doesn't even sound like the same artist with each outing; sometimes the changes are good and sometimes they are bad, but I think he is now at the point where he's taking the best of each evolution and blending it into his current sound. A big change that altered his music is that the industry standard for recording consoles shifted from analog to digital after the early 2000s. Compared to digital, Analog just makes everything sound so much more alive and there really is no comparison, but sometimes you have to make sacrifices to enhance the ease of usage, because cutting analog tape is not fun at all. Back to his lyrics though, Kamikaze and Music To Be Murdered By are by far the best in his career when it comes to command of the english language. They have everything from idioms to double entendres, similes to metaphors, inner schemes to multi-syllabic rhymes, and patterns that ride every instrument in the instrumental while switching flows several times in each song. The impact of his music might not be the same, because the late 90s and early 2000s were a different time, but he is sharper than ever when it comes to his craft and no one can take that from him. Even Revival had it's moments, the second half of it had some of his most heartfelt lyrics with the same skill level shown on these last 2 albums; the song sequencing and far more than one too many musical misteps are what ruined the rest of Revival for me, but cuts like Framed, Arose, Bad Husband, Believe, and Castle are vintage Eminem. Revival is a perfect example of bad production and taking risks with too many experimental sounds overshadowing phenomenal lyricism and emotional content. Throw in some politics that entirely contradict what he stood for the first at least 15 years of his career and you get Revival, a certified mess. We As Americans and Like Home/Nowhere Fast are polar opposites in terms of message and Untouchable musically hurts my ears. Thank God he dropped 2 cohesively structured projects though with Kamikaze and Music To Be Murdered By both track wise and inner song structure, because Revival was all over the place with too many Eminems to count.

Laurie Jean Baptiste. Music brings people together, we all can relate to music, I feel the same way, I’ve always loved rap growing up in Brooklyn, never once did I see my music as black music or white music, same as sports, same as movies, it’s art, it’s the other people telling us we need to see differences, tired of it

That was a good Eminem related hip hop discussion. I definitely like the guy’s music. Over the years, a lot of his raps have blown my mind. He’s not my favorite rapper, but I respect his skills and his love for hip hop.

He has to work 5x harder ? For what ? You do know that black people embraced Eminem that's how he got on right ? You and Ebro don't ever compare Eminem to black people's plight in this world. Because Eminem gets his foot in the door he's going to move more unit than a 2pac or a Biggie because the majority of the people who are buying those records look like him . Do you remember the song White America? I sure do.

Eminem is NOT the greatest to the historians and intellectuals in hip hop lol (you know, the people who have actually studied the culture for decades). I'll accept somewhere between 15-30. ONE of the greatest but not in the upper echelon. Too many medicore albums and nonsencial, adolescent lyrics have tainted his legacy.

Im 46yr old black man. True hip hop head. Lot of us when we say The GOAT we base it on songs and and how that MC make us feel. But lyrically! Word play and vocab and emotion all in one. M is on top

If we're talking top 50, then yes I can say he's one of the best (but he is NOT in the upper echelon of the best). Also, he's a highly skilled 'technical' rapper but he's a HORRIBLE writer. People need to know the difference between Poetry and technique. RAP= Rhythm And Poetry.
