Yonas, thanks so much for sharing the great old-time memories. Especially, it is so great to see what changes happened to the place after you left the area for a decade or so. Keep up the excellent job that you doing at EBS. Thanks, Gashaw.

Thank you Yonas, my father went to Kotobe during Emperor HaileSelasse’s era, he has fond memories of his education at Kotobe.
The teachers credentialing program at the Kotebe Teachers Training College was very effective during my enrollment period in the early 90’s. If you graduate with a bachelor of Education and have a passion to work with kids, you have a great chance of getting a teaching credential in US. I hope the college run the same program. I also remember remember Dr. Gemechu, the students health care provider, who can easily identify students who pretend they are sick to get medicine and sale it for quick cash.Thank you EBS bringing my old good times.
Memories of old times are precious and unforgettable.

I was once a student of Haile Selassie I Secondary School way back before it became TTI. It was all boys school, no female students when I was there. Of course, it was a boarding school. I really enjoyed my stay there for four years. I wish we had female students in our school back then. I strongly believe that it is necessary to have a mix of both sexes for normal social development. If we had girls in our school back then, probably one of them would end up being my wife. Back then it did not matter which ethnic group you belonged to. If you loved someone you would not started tracing her or his lineage. You just marry. The host mentioned the swimming pool in the school. It was located by the dormitory. One time a tragic thing happened. Mr. George (this his first name. I don't remember his last name) was my math teacher, I believe, in 9th grade and 10th grade. He was from India. One time his two small children got in the swimming pool and got drowned. It seems there were no adults around to save them. This was a tragedy that had befallen the parents of these two children. It was actually a sad time for the entire school community. Imagine losing your precious children in such a short time. What happened to the emperor's statue? I am writing from the United States. So long

My father, Engineer Assefa Telahun of EELPA) also went to Kotobe during Emperor HaileSelasse’s era. He has fond memories of the Emperor when he came to visit the students. Happy that you are of that era.
Oh yes most home owners during Derg time got free land with interest free loan ( mortgage for 30yrs) today they are millionaires due to the value of land . Derg has done amazing things for the people of Ethiopia on equal terms not on tribal identity or class division. Do some reading based on facts not weyane propaganda
Yoni I don’t think you did good on showing Kotebe. Weyane egziabiher yiyachu they messed up Kotebe’s road. This is not the memory we have in this area!
