Very nice video - Thank you for making one on this topic ! 🙂 I do have a humble suggestion to make - it would be really nice if you could mention (show in writing in a corner) the name of the work and the artist when a painting comes on the screen. It will help people like me who are from the East and find it difficult to understand the Western artists' names. Also, you showed a lot many paintings towards the end of the video, and I wished I knew the names of the artists who did them (to check them out in detail later).

Glad you liked it, and thank you for your suggestion! Interestingly, there were quite some paintings on this subject of which the name of the artist was unknown. If interested, here is a link with a lot of works on the Ecce Homo theme: commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Paintings_of_the_Ecce_Homo

For me the one by Ciseri is very interesing because it shows only the backs of Jesus and Pilate. This seems rather unusual?

Yes, that is my favorite as well. The earlier paintings focused more on the presentation of Jesus, shown suffering and humiliated. But by the 19th century, artists were looking for different perspectives to capture the same story.

Once again, I have learned more from your perspective and interpretation in a short time than from about any other art historian. Thank you!

I found it very interesting and learned a lot about the story of Jesus in the Bible
