I am a medical graduate from Nepal who has completed all the USMLE steps. Currently, I am planning to prepare for the AMC examinations. I understand that my credentials have already been verified through ECFMG, and I have read that I may not need to pay for verification again. However, when attempting to establish an EPIC ID on the website, I noticed a payment of $130 is required. Could you kindly confirm if this payment is necessary for individuals whose credentials are already verified by ECFMG?

Hello doctor, congratulations on your completion of the USMLE Journey. Yes unfortunately, it is necessary for establishing EPIC, I had to pay them. Afterwards, I heard that some colleagues opened EPIC without paying the 130$, just by contacting ECFMG regarding their credentials and they opened an EPIC for them. However I'm not sure about it, but it is worth trying if you contact them. Good luck with your AMC Journey, and if you could update us on the matter with a comment if you get a reply from ECFMG, kindly do tell.

EPIC requires your graduation diploma, until then you don't need epic. And No problem having ecfmg account, it's the first step to sit for USMLE step-1 exam, which you can do while still a student.

My college is not listed in world dictionary of medicals schools so i couldn't creat ecfmg id. Can i apply for plab using epic alone? My college is listed in epic. Or is ecfmg compulsory for plab registration too ?

Thank you for the question. If your college is already registered with EPIC then I believe you can verify your credentials as it is a separate service, so please check directly with a trial on EPIC or email ECFMG. However, the ECFMG are trying to merge everything under one platform called MyIntealth, which hasn't been launched yet, once it happens we will see how EPIC falls in the new system. Nonetheless, I don't think there will ever be a problem for PLAB and GMC in regard of credentials verification, ECFMG shall continue to provide the service even for those not on the WDOMS, or (a very low probability) GMC will announce a different way if anythings happens.

EPIC Will contact the responsible party in your medical school once you submit your credentials, they should have their email already

Really valuable info there. thankyou! I do need to ask, I have done an EIF notary via EPIC, but not the verification part yet. Should I create USMLE ID, verify it and later utilize the same info. for EPIC verification or vice versa as I am still in medical school, and will be taking USMLE and not other exams. Also, After getting all the verification for ECFMG for USMLE is there any timeline ( if that the case I will later verify ) to give the exam or I can give it any time?

Well as you're not a graduate yet; you still need to have you diploma after graduation, then you can verify it through EPIC with no exams needed, however for USMLE you can't verify any credentials without paying for the exam first, I hope this answers your questions

hello, great video valuable info. im from sudan, I graduated recently and I'm concerned about the 2024 accredition rules. 1.does it only affect the ecfmg pathway or the EPIC pathway too? 2.if I did the epic verification now and after 2024 I want to change to ecfmg, will I be able to do so, even if my university isn't accreditied yet? 3. is the epic verification valid for life ? ال EPIC جزء من ال ECFMG فالجواب على السؤال الأول أيوا لأنه ما حتقدر ترفع بياناتك في ال epicلو جامعتك ما معتمدة. تقدر تحول من الEPIC لل ECFMG والعكس لكن في شوية اختلاف إجراءات ورسوم لكن عموما بعد تحَل حساب في اي واحد فيهم تاني ماعندك علاقة بجامعتك اعتمدوها ولا لا، دا حسب معلوماتي والله أعلم.

Hello, thank you for the feedback. For the 2nd question: No you have to open an ECFMG account too, however you can try emailing them to open an ECFMG for you after opening an EPIC account and verifying your credentials. EPIC Credentials theoretically are permanently verified. First question I'm not sure yet

You should be able to do PLAB after 2024 as there is nothing mentioned by GMC regarding the 2024 accreditation, however if you wakt, you can open EPIC now yes and verify your credentials later on. Also EPIC is only for verification and I couldn't find any info regarding it being affected by 2024
