The second trial has little consequence other than to push Subaru further towards making the contract with Echidna. From what it looks like now, Subaru won't likely be the one to pass the trials.

I think they did their best with Echidna's monologue. They've been trying to fit as much as possible into the episodes and damn we are seeing no openings or endings for quite a while just to include more content. If you are an anime-only you can watch the special Re Zero break time episodes as they also contain canon infortmation about stuff that aren't included in the episodes like conversations or lore. Also they are just 3 minutes. Also nice review.
