Thanks so much for this video. It just so happens that today while buying gardening supplies, I found 2 coneflowers marked down to $2.49 each that were brown on the flower end,but the rest of the plants were still green. Can't wait to get them nursed back to health.Your video was most helpful..

I have planted cone flowers for a number of years and they are great except for one thing, rabbits love them. As a result of this I have enclosed all of them with rabbit barriers. During the summer I dead head for more flowers but when fall arrives, I leave the old seed heads for the birds. I don't use fertilizer but will mulch with leaves in the fall to protect the roots in the winter and to enhance the organic content of the soil.

Thank you for the information. I tried growing some from seed last year but couldn't get it to germinate. I'm going to give it another try.

They come in many color white, yellow, the purple is the most common, red and even a orange. I can see why cows and deer wouldn't like them. The heads is almost a cocklebur! Good info, I get starters from them 3 ways. 1 break the roots apart early spring and plant them, 2 break the heads apart plant the seed about 2" down into the soil 3 just break the head off and plant it about 2" deep, for a nice bokay of flowers, The fastest and best way is to break the roots apart and replant it.... there great for all kinds of pollinators and even butterflies and humming birds like them Cheers

I live in Taiwan where Echinacea is not popular seen. I ordered a bag of Echinacea Purpurea and planted in late Febuary. It took 4 and a half month before the first blossom came out. I wondered maybe due to warm and dry summer we experienced this year, the blossom arrived much faster than I expected.

Taiwan is a lot warmer than where I live. I assume Echinacea will not die down in winter in Taiwan since the winter in Taiwan is so mild. You may get to enjoy more and more flowers all year around. In colder area, where I live, Echinacea will not have enough time to get big enough to flower the 1st year. They all die down to the ground during freezing winter weather, but they regenerate in the Spring and come back bigger and stronger year after year. Usually in the 2nd year, they start to flower here.

I have about 20 plants in individual pots that I dug up from my neighbor's yard. They are just small perennials. When I plant them outside, should I plant them in a clump or separately? How would I space them in a clump or a drift. Thank you!
