It is brilliant how much storage/space your trailer offers once it’s all set up with so many features. Gone are the days when one shoved as much as possible in the old venter trailer and the boot of the car for a weekend away camping. I have to say Edward I had such a chuckle when you said “this is where the magic happens”!

An idea for your light cables. In Builders you get thin little Velcro straps about 10mm x 5cm that are used for tidying up cables at home. Get some of those and Velcro the cables up to the awning’s Velcro.

Very nice setup. So much packing space and clever solutions. Setting up such a big tent is too cumbersome especially when overlanding. I had a Metalian Maxi trailer and this was the reason I sold it. It just takes too much time and effort to unpack/pack everything. ..

Howzit Ed maybe do what I did to my conqueror. Remove the tent. Replace with a clamshell tent, I mounted mine on a bracket so that I can store wood, table, chair or fishing gear on the trailer roof below the tent. Then add a 270 awning and finally to my point🤣 permanently run light cables on the awnings folding arms, they are permanent, only setup is to remove the hella plug and wrap the cable up to store in the awning and this cuts down on setup even further. Beer in hand sat in chair fully setup 90 seconds….mint! Now I just need to find a ladder that doesn’t hurt my feet Edit Just seen the end, guess I’m not such an original thinker👍

Make the lights a diy portable lithium battery compact project, Awning get someone to stitch a decent strap in line with awning poles from pole to roof top tent so when you pitch awning jou pull with storm wind straps on another strap and not on the canvas the strap incorporated in awning roof will straighten awning and strengthen awning and keep those dams of rainwater of awning. In stormy wheather anchor awning poles at foot of pole so wind doesn't lift pole and cause damage and chaos in camp

Only problem I have with Echo is the rainwater collecting on the roof. I have to set the poles way down to sort of manage it.
@EdwardBath3 жыл бұрын
Pull the awnings really tight and then lower the corner poles, this solved my issue!
@ThePofmuis3 жыл бұрын
@@EdwardBath Thanks, that's what I'm doing at the moment, with the side walls it can get very tricky. I'm also using two telescopic painting poles from the inside corners to the trailer that works but not with high winds.
@madefromwater3 жыл бұрын
I removed the awnings that were supplied with the Echo 5. (MK 4 tent) They did not perform at all in the rain. Water pooled every time it rained. It was a huge problem when the side walls were attached as I could not drop/lift poles accordingly to help spool off the water. i did the following modifications. 1)Remove existing awnings 2)Had new gable awnings made up with zip attachment to the main tent 3)Squared off awning. No more splayed corner. This has given me more floor space 4) Modulated the side walls to individual panels. This allows me to set up as what is required for privacy or weather. Far easier to handle than 6meter panels as per what came with the tent 5)Side walls are attached to the awning with Zips. End result is a unit that is user friendly and will withstand the rain.

There are not a lot of Echo reviews out there on KZbin, making this a high quality and high value review! With me, having a RTT on my Tec 2, I still need to figure how to fit a 270 Degree Awning to the trailer. Next mods for me is permanently installing a gas burner as well as a power panel. Ed please share the link for the wild dog storm strap set. Their website is useless (or maybe I’m useless 😂) and doesn’t work on iPad or phone. After the way I was treated by the owner and sales team who were disinterested in my enquiries and made me feel like an unwelcome guest, when visiting them, I swore never to buy one. Fantastic review Ed! If I was in the market for a camping trailer you would have sold me on the Echo. When I see all the gear you've got I can't believe I spent almost 5 years car camping around southern Africa with an Opel Corsa, a pup tent, a potje and some basic pots, pans and cutlery but I did and loved every minute of it - oh and a huge ice chest for the Castles! hahaha. I see some one has already suggested the velcro solution for your lighting cables - that was my 1st thought. Stay safe, stay well and watch the Delta variant if you are not yet double vaccinated. BTW - you really made me laugh when you said you were "a bit" OCD!

@EdwardBath3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Paul! Yes it is well below the GVM, especially now that I’ve removed a lot of the weight by removing the drawer system and heavy batteries 🙌

@@EdwardBath thanks for the response Ed, really appreciate it. I think there's a lot of us 'Towers' out there that don't quite understand a vehicles limitations when modified & towing. Even a big vehicle like the 200 is easily overloaded considering it has a payload limit of 610Kg, assuming the tow ball weight is maxed out at 100Kg that only leaves 500 Kg for occupants, vehicle modifications & beer. Maybe a vehicle & trailer weighbridge review covering GVM & GCM would be an interesting video to make? I must add your video content & quality just gets better & better! Cheers Boet.
