I bought this guy mid leaf season knowing we would need it for mainly mowing, this is a great blower but you will not be able to large cleanups just small debris and clippings. In my area they are banning gas blowers so we will see how that goes next spring.

Echo's coming out with a 7700 In 2025. It's going to have higher air speed and have the maxout technology and be water resistant and it's going to have the same level of performance as a 770 For $700 without batteries. Unfortunately we're going in reverse in terms of performance compared to the 8010-9010 we've all become used to using now. The prices for leaf cleanups are going to go way up for the customer because it's going to take so much longer to do the work.

It’s a great blower, however the lack of maxout technology on this is a huge weakness. I love mine for weekly grass clippings but it’s not going to do well for leaves. The newer backpack blowers they’re about to come out with, potentially.

From what I can gather the 5900 with the maxout only applies to non-turbo. You have more consistent power low to high. The main reason why I bought the 5800 was one of the areas that I work in has banned gas blowers in 2025. Have you tried running without the blower tip on it? I think it does a better job of sweeping than the tip does in certain situations. That's 7700 Looks pretty cool. It has some waterproofing more power and doubled cost.

It looks like the run times for the 5900T are significantly lower then the 5800. Obviously because of the maxout.I use the 2600 trimmers with maxout. I also have the handheld with maxout and it will still taper off in performance as the battery drains. So im not sold on the 5900 being better overall with the diminished run times. Especially considering the kit comes with 8ah batteries for double the money. The only thing the 7700 is offering is a water resistant cover for the batteries and a little more power but again worse run times then the 5800 with bigger more expensive batteries. I agree with the weather resistant issues. It's almost like echo is just following along instead of trying to innovate and bring viable products to market for commercial operators.

Since I've now had the 5800 for 8 months keep in mind I have not used the 5900. This is just my opinion. I believe you're going to get more capability using the 5900 because of its consistent runtime. Even though it's less run time, you're not going to be losing power as the batteries run out like you do with the 5800. The 5800 has nothing left when you get to the end of the battery life and I hope the max out even though you're getting much less run time will be much more consistent. Personally, unless you're in the area where they've banned gas blowers like in my area, I would stick with your standard gas blower. Also, this is the technology we have right now. Everything's in its infancy. It took a long time to get really high performance gas powered equipment like we have now, so I imagine it's going to take a long time to get that same capabilities out of battery.

Yea it's a long way off before battery backpack blowers will catch up. Not so much with the performance but with the weight of the batteries to get that performance. I've owned my business for 8 years and prior to that I was a Golf Course Superintendent for 20 years. I've seen the evolution in equipment. I run 770s and 8010s and absolutely have come to hate the noise myself. 😂 I would just be using the 5800 for residential accounts where people would appreciate the lack of noise. I use the 2500 hh now for those and even with the max out on that when it gets down to 2 bars I can feel the performance drop off. So I don't think the 5900 with max out is going to make enough of a difference in terms of performance to make the price jump because you need the 8ah to get decent run times. In other words I don't see max out helping much with the blowers because of the massive power draw.
