did this exact same thing 60 years ago while in high school, 37 chev truck, found a ported and relieved flathead engine no one wanted,, isky full race cam, fenton dual carb manifold, borrowed dracing slicks, no money to speak of, all built under the trees. learned a lot that i use today. more kids should be getting their hands dirty this way. today still doing the same thing but with diesels

The first guy I've heard on the Internet, who knows, and can verbalize what makes cars look 'right'. I've been building hot rods and other stuff for 50+ years. I shake my heads at cars, sometimes, knowing a minor or moderately ride height adjustment would improve the look 100%.

Thanks for this video, I grew up around old drag racers. My Dad wrenched an raced with Don Noyes in Upstate NY, Don had a nationally recognized Gasser named the US Mule. Now I live in Southwest Florida and met an old guy that used to make metal model cars by hand and now he just fiddles in his shop all day and tells stories, He says Ron Covell is a good friend and visits him from time to time. The guy in the video reminds me of the toy maker ... some cool old guys

These are the best types of people to deal with also. I have done it for many years even back into the 70s. And I put together quite a few hot rods sold all of them except the one I have now. But I live out in the sticks a lot further than these guys. Even our neighbors would get really ticked off one mile from our house because we would go down and grease the roads with candy cane burnout all up and down the road LOL. But society looks at us like we are from another planet. Kind of a strange Paradox because I look at them like they are from another planet LOL. Really liked this video. People Like Us. Down to earth easy to deal with because if you are they are. They make the best of friends

Echo ! where the hell are you man you and me are built out of the same stuff and i want to shake your hand its been to long since i had the privilege of listening to wise men and i need more of this inspiration and a model for aspiration. I am 30 and live in coos bay on the coast in Oregon. i hope i hear from you, it is true what they say, 'where there is a will there is a way.' I find it hard to forget the love for things that people have long set aside and left behind, exiled to the scrap yard to be ground down and lost. it has been a challenge to keep true to these things when the world around us seldom has any time for stuff that isn't brand new. and to often these things are just outside of a realistic possibility, but i have faith in my lack of fear and determination to my pursuit of happiness. i know you are a treasury of that antiquity and its wiser ways. if nothing else thank you for sharing what you have.

About 1960 my future BIL and I would go 9 miles to another town where the local hotrodders had an old store, so old I never knew the original purpose. It was cold and dirty and disarrayed but full of guys building old 30's and 40's coupes and using big Olds, Ford and sometimes foreign power(somebody wiped out their Jag in the hinterlands and didn't care to retrieve it). It was a great group of guys just building whatever they had in mind and the parts they could get cheap. There was no rod with original anything but some of the body. It was fun though since I already had the bug. Several years later I'd have the "car to beat" for several counties around. People would just show up and want to race I had never met or seen before. it was a little poke I left the "275 HP" decal on the air cleaner lid that got to some of them. Hey, you didn't have to be Einstein to hear 12:1 compression and Arkus Duntov at work under the hood.
