Low-key Lawn Care

Low-key Lawn Care

Күн бұрын

I filmed this video in the fall of 2019, but it sat in my editing queue for quite a few months before I had time to finish it. I bought this backpack blower to help with the leaf clean-up around the house as I was tired of raing by hand.
I've owned handheld blowers in the past, but I'd never go back to a handheld after using a backpack blower back when I did commercial lawn care.
After using this blower for fall clean-up last year as well as spring clean-up this year, I am very happy with my purchase and think this is the perfect blower for a homeowner like me!
SUBSCRIBE and LIKE this video if you found it helpful!
If you have any questions about this blower or lawn care in general, let me know in the comments below!
Thanks for watching!

Great video! I have been landscaping and using blowers for 32 years. Tip #1 for any hand held or backpack blower: once you start, don't rev the throttle back and forth. Put it all the way up on full (cruise control) the whole time you are blowing. If you go back and forth all the time, you have a great chance that your engine and carb system will crack and be damaged. I'm talking in a short amount of time, too...like 2 months new.

I respectfully disagree. I bought the cheapest stihl handheld blower and got 9 solid years out of it before it fell out of tune but yet it still ran, only reason i got rid of it was because i couldnt get an OEM carb during the height of covid and i opted for a cheap knockoff. I got what i paid for so i just parted ways with it and bought a Milwaukee 18v since i had the batteries already. Anyhow I varied the throttle constantly with it and never had an issue till the end and i blame its downfall on myself. It was the first time i didnt winterize it (i was in the middle of selling my house and moving) got overlooked. It still had its original air filter and plug till i did the carb/rebuild kit. Talk about reliability i was impressed. To me Revving it out all the time puts more stress on the engine and burns more fuel. Things might be different in the commercial market but for the average joe i experienced zero issues.

For the home use, I advise using the premixed fuel sold at the stores. The premixed fuel uses ethanol free gasoline and is usually higher octane than you can get at the pump. For home use, it is not worth the little savings you get from pump gas and the 2stroke oil mix mixture. How many folks have inadvertently left fuel in their lawn equipment and regretted it next season when they go to start their equipment. I have had pump gas fuel in my equipment for as little as 5 months and the carbs were gummed up from the ethanol in the pump gas. That one year, I replaced all the carbs on my weedwackers, blowers and even my four stroke lawn tractor required a carb rebuild, at the time, I had pneumonia and it was a bitch to tear down that carb on the lawn tractor. It is not a guarantee you will get all that ethanol laden fuel out of your fuel system; those fuel lines and jets are relatively small and it only takes a little residual fuel in the system to cause a great deal of anger and frustration come start up time in the spring. I know replacement carbs are inexpensive, but it is far easier to just use the premix/ethanol free fuel.

Im a homeowner and mix 40:1 with red armor oil. There, ethanol problem solved. I hate the thought of an "already" mixed gas, I just cant trust what's in the can. What if the machine forgot to add oil to one can!

I'm an occasional home owner 2 stroke user.. I have grass trimmers, blowers, etc...I've always mixed my own fuels. E10 89 octane as non ethanol is unavailable in my area. I only mix one gallon at a time to prevent it from getting stale. Ive never had an issue, You have to store the equipment properly when it's not going to be used for extended periods of time.

Suggestions on storing in between use? Do the chokes need to be set a certain way? How do I prevent flooding the carb?
@LowkeyLawnCare
@LowkeyLawnCare 4 жыл бұрын
Personally, I don't do anything special. I use it after each mow to clean up the driveway, so I figure that keeps the juices flowing and keeps things from gumming up inside. If you're storing for more than 30 days, the owners manual has some procedures to follow on page 33: www.echo-usa.com/getattachment/41e2659c-09a3-4006-9e92-c90ffd220c31/PB-580HT_14_040215_1_es

I have been thinking about getting this blower for my yard. I have never had a gas blower before. And never mixed gas and oil type engines. Right now the home depot only has this one and the don't know when they will get any more because of shipping problems like everything else right now. I watched both videos you did. Still not sure.

Make sure you've got the gas/2-cycle oil mixture in there, prime the bulb, and make sure you've got the choke set correctly (on until is starts, then turn the choke off once it's running). Also, a big mistake I've made in years past is trying to start it with the power switch off instead of in the on position. On the trimmer make sure the on switch is pushed away from you and on the blower make sure you turn the power switch towards you. Also, if you've got all that right, you may have flooded the engine trying to start it for so long. Give it some time and try again later. Hope this helps! These are great once you get them figured out!

Welcome to home ownership! This would be a great blower. In regards to leaf dumping, it is going to depend on what town you live it. Check in with your town office and they should be able to let you know.
