Yesterday I was so saddened by the passing of one of the godfathers of Southern rock Mr. Charlie Daniels. I am seeing this for the first time and my sadness has turned to pure and absolute elation. Southern rock is now the powerhouse genre of music in America and hopefully will be for a very long time. I consider myself to be truly blessed to be alive to witness this new generation of Southern musicians and Southern music. The south has done it again and may they rock on forever . Stumbled upon this video a couple months ago. First was totally hooked with first riff and guitar tone on Where I'm Headed, then he started to sing and I thought, "what the hell have I just discovered." Then he played the first guitar solo and I almost hit the floor. Been obsessed with Marcus ever since.

He was one of the openers for Tedeschi Trucks at Red Rocks a few years ago. I thought he should have been the headliner. The guy's amazing!
