The other day I was in a hospital and decided to practice. I entered the state of silent presence for some time. Even though the people were moving and talking and I was not thinking and there was a strange feeling of me being empty and yet being everything and everyone there. Once thinking resumed I came back to usual thinking annoying self. It is so simple yet it so easy to miss, because the mind likes to complicate things.

The mind is just doing it's job of trying to protect us by warning us of all and any possible dangers we could potentially face, it is extremely annoying at times but it does always mean well even when it's extremely mistaken and misguided it still believes it's working for us rather than against us. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Yes, I was watching Mufasa, the new Lion King movie. There are no humans in the film, but all the majestic lions are fast asleep "humans". I was shocked at how this movie portrayed the message that there are good and bad lions. 😢 Such a waste of time. I will quit watching such movies from now on. I will choose a stroll in nature instead and will watch all the busy insects and wonderful birds in our beautiful surroundings! ❤

This that you talked about the lions is a language figure called personification. Its needed, since is for a childsh movie. And, looking deeper, the very message is existencially beautiful. Firstly, it starts with Mufasa getting lost of yourself, your own home, finding a new self, in Ashe's words. And, even in the part of 'bad and good lion', it is about the contrast between someone who believe that life is about supremacy (fulfilled by ego) and other one who was teached about- and believe- in the endless Cicle of Life and in the relevance of making it harmonious in itself, by the union of its members ( looked familiar?). Mufasa is a childish movie, for ingenuous or inattentive watchers, but, for those heart sharped ones, it's a dialogue of the human nature with itself, in its differents experiences and aspects.Look for the metaphors. Milele, is a paradisiac place which most want to achieve, while others dont believe, and can be, when we are distant from it, seen inside ourselves, pretty like Christ's Sky Kingdom, which could be seen as a place, but is, essentialy, an inner state. Perceive that Milele is located geographically, but is just fully realized when all the animals became united againist the "invasors" ( oppressive ego) and proclame Mufasa ( the awarened one) as the king of the Sky Kingdon (Milele) like ourselves are in process to turn in. And, at the end, Chiara recognizes that she wants to meet Mufasa, when Rafiq clarified: "he lasts within you" and, finally, taking her legacy as her mirror ( remember Christ) earn the power to transcend the fear. Mufasa isn t a production that encourages the limiting ego and manichaeism, but a reflexion about it in its various forms.

You need to work on your terminology. The burden of the self...The burden of yourself? And then you speak of the Self as our true identity. Which self are you referring to Eckhart and when? Self is both good and bad in your world. That creates confusions. Better to say: the burden of the false persona, or ego-identity.

Burden is a very harsh way of describing someone, having to prove the things we claim to be true are true quite rightly puts the burden of proof on us, but neither we or anyone else should think of ourselves or anyone else as being burden to endure 🙏🙏🙏🙏

@johngreen4683 You misunderstood completely. I was quoting Tolle when he in the beginning says The burden of your self. What self is the burden? What is he talking about? He is using the word "self" both for the false self and the true self. This creates confusions.

@@CT2507 I wasn't disagreeing with you personally, in fact I was doing the complete opposite, I was disagreeing with Eckhart choice of words here. I like Eckhart very much but I do not see him as an infallible being and I do believe he gets things wrong sometimes just like all human beings do. I don't believe there is any malice whatsoever in Eckhart but I do believe referring to anyone as being a burden is a very poor choice of words 🙏🙏🙏🙏

@johngreen4683 Okay then I misunderstood you. ;) But saying that the ego or false persona we wrongly identify with in our daily life, is a burden, is indeed very legit and a form used by most masters. Nothing wrong with saying that. Since it is in fact the wrong identification with the false that creates all our sufferings. @CT2507 hi, for me personally, this one is quite simple, I exist and there for I am myself but I am not my mind. I am very happy to use the term "my true self" as a way of distancing and separating my own conscious deliberate and considered thoughts, opinions, feelings and beliefs from my minds unconscious instant emotional and irrational thoughts, opinions feelings and beliefs but not to deny I exist and claim there is no I. Many people including Eckhart say there is no I but this is one of things I personally disagree with Eckhart and others on. For me it's extremely wise to listen and learn from others where you can but very unwise to surrender yourself and your ability to think for yourself to others, no matter how they are 🙏🙏🙏🙏
