If you have a bad thought, repetitive thought, or a thought that makes you unhappy, all you have to say to yourself is "next thought please." Your mind will be immediately cleared for several minutes or longer. It's a very pleasant way to change the narrative in one's head. "Next thought please," brings needed silence to one's mind.

In my spiritual journey, I've discovered that this 'voice' in your head changes as you evolve and mature spiritually. The most common version of this voice is a very judgmental and criticizing one. However, as you continue to evolve through meditation, contemplation, and live a higher vibrational lifestyle this voice also changes. First, thoughts slow down considerably. I've been meditating for over 25 years and my mind isn't chaotic and agitated like it was in my youth. For example, there are long moments of silent observation rather than a disorganized and frenzied cacophony of random messages. Second, the nature and quality of your thoughts change. For me, it operates more as a utility, a useful observer; when I need to discern something, make an effort in planning something, or contemplate the nature of something. I no longer suffer thoughts of a negative, self-abusive nature - this energy has dissolved and dissipated years ago. I mention my observation of thoughts because your thoughts are a consequence of your vibrational state. Therefore, if you make it a point to live in a higher vibrational way (eat better, live in a peaceful environment, deal with pleasant happy people, express yourself honestly and regularly, exercise, abstain from any chemical substances that can bring your vibrational state down, and of course meditate daily), then you'll start to notice that the nature of your mind also transforms. Working on yourself holistically is the easiest path towards wholeness. Peace to anyone who reads this and finds this of value.

Your thoughts are the prison that keep you from being happy. You have made up your mind about what is right or wrong. Your beliefs are the same as words on a page, so you do not have to trust them. You can think of them however you want. The Eckhart Tolle video is the perfect representation of the true nature of consciousness. There is no separation between spaces or time or physical things. You know it can be so easy to over-estimate how far you’ve come in your awakening journey. Just because I can focus pretty well on the present moment in my regular sitting meditations, I thought for a while that this teaching on “the voice in your head” in particular wasn’t that relatable any more. Well, I was wrong. I’ve just realized that this recurring irritation that arose in me on weekends was definitely out of unwitnessed thoughts. So was my indecision about big and small matters. How amazing Eckhart is telling things that sound right on the nose in my situation.

The other day I found a letter from the municipality in my hallway. It had been lying there for a while, but thought is was an unimportant letter. As a finally opened it said there was a building infringement on my plot (because of a complaint of a neighbor) and that I was invited to the municipality to discuss this in 3 days time, without any further details. As just sold my house the timing for this was very inconvenient. I normally don't stress out, but somehow this caused a lot of stress. I couldn't sleep, felt anxious all the, there was just no way to stop my thoughts. The voice in head kept telling story after story. When the of the appointment finally arrived, I felt exhausted and terrified at the same time, only to discover the official was in fact a very kind person, and that I couldn't be prosecuted for the infringement. Such a classic example of how your mind can play tricks on you. I'm aware of Echkart work for years, but somehow just could find the off switch.

Nice video. My personal suggestion. 60,000 thoughts a day. Detox the mind.Reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice. Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing negative thoughts-anxiety. For a relaxed life sit on a chair, back straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for around 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight your thoughts. Slowly the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Day or night, when taking a walk, when reading, on the phone, before sleep etc sit or lie down and observe your breath. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a good life. Avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Best wishes Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.

both, my mind interprets things due to my situation. I find it hard to stop the voice and found it difficult to even listen to the video and be attentive. My mind believes the voice is useful and it has indeed proven itself useful sometimes by daydreaming and ruminating of the past but I miss more than if I was present yet awareness is not enough for me to do that

I've been stuck in this dilemma. I deal with anxiety and depression. Many tours of psych hospitals and terrible treatments. My NOISE in my head, thinks it's problem solving. If I block this, panic and guilt steps in with ANOTHER voice screaming, "You're not taking care of business and issues. You must keep pushing!" And on and on until I'm overwhelmed and sick. I don't sleep well. Tons of meds and I've funded MANY psychologist's retirement plans. I try to get into the moment to free myself. I walk in an anguish filled fog. I study and continue to work on myself. I'm exhausted and tired of living in fear while my time here passes rapidly. I had to write this. Any input will be taken seriously. Thanks, and peace to everyone.

I kept listening to Eckhart morning and at night everyday. He calmed my mind and slowed down my thinking. So I can think clearly and experience peace. I'm still learning but I'm not depressed or lost or anxious anymore.

This is very interesting. Now that I am aware of my thoughts I repeat to myself: "This is the voice of my mind". And then I wonder: "what I should think about?" 🤔🤔
