I think the explanation for they way this series has gone - to the extent it can be ascertained at all - is much more complex and nuanced than "they gave up". There are numerous factors at play, some of which are apparent and, since we have no idea what goes on in the locker room and in these players' brains, some of them are and will remain a mystery. But that said, one such factor is the team's effort level, which clearly was lacking in game 4 and to a somewhat lesser extent tonight and in game 3. The real question is what causes that drop-off in effort level. It's been a feature of the team all season, from what I've seen.

I was at the game and honestly the Devils at times were off their game. They were missing passes and giving up the puck with dumb plays even in their own zone. Yet even with all that, they still managed a 4-0 victory. Rangers are in serious trouble.

The team has all the skill and depth in the world. The only thing missing is mental fortitude. Teams like Tampa have it in spades, teams like NYR and Toronto don’t.

The Devils showed some real heart in battling back but I think the key to the turnaround was the Rangers taking their foot off the gas in game 3. That let your team regain its form and confidence. Once they won game 3 it was anybody's series. Then the Rangers just didn't feel like playing hockey the night of game 4 and we saw that result.

As a devils fan im happy. I was very pessimistic after the first 3 games and was just hoping to not get swept. Things have turned around since. They are a different team since then. This is pretty much how I felt about the Avs after they got beat in 6 after going up 2-0 in the series against Vegas. The only thing that dissipated that disappointment as the insane run they went on last year.That was a product of the mindset of the players in the room though. I don't have any finger on the pulse of the Rangers, but i feel like going from the semi-finals to bounced after round 1 in embarrassing fashion would be devastating for them and it's gonna take a really good leadership group for them to bounce back either in the series or next year.

Eck (aka JofaDoge), as a Jackets fan who witnessed a 2-0 series lead collapse faster than Yankee Stadium I did (aka, slowly and painfully), I understand the frustration here. Only difference is that this Rangers team obviously has way more talent than those 2018 Jackets did, but at the same time, this is still only the second season that the Rags have been “true contenders” with the current core. Hang in there my guy. Core is still fairly young, and you guys still have years left to contend in the playoffs. Even if the Rags still lose in 6, they still have time.

Just look around at teams in the other divisions that you might like. I, myself,jumped ship from NYR two years ago (although I still wish them well,and am still a fan of a few of their players) after Dolan's response to the Tom Wilson/Pavel Buchnevich/Artemi Panarin incident. That was just the last straw for me- an owner who makes a spectacle of himself and has no real commitment to winning, plus after my own reaction, I actually felt like I needed to step back from hockey altogether for a while,which lasted all of 2 or 3 weeks. I'm THAT much of a fan of the sport,first and foremost. The team I jumped to may be much worse,but I do find myself enjoying being a fan again, albeit a casual one. For the Rangers' sake,it's worth noting that there's a reason why NJ has home ice, that this may just be a hiccup for NY ,as the series has turned,and they just have to find their way back to playing their game. They're facing an unfamiliar goalie (a move that's really paid off for the Devils) and a team that got hot at the right time. Let's see if NYR can get back on track,and at least play one last solid game

I like rooting for the bruins for an east coast team when the devils suck but I like keeping the presidents trophy curse active and seeing teams just transform to confidence knowing they're out if it were to happen. Time will tell. I do think they take the series though

I really like the content you put out, think its a great format and tune in to 99% percent of your videos. three seconds into this video, pretending like the rangers were ever a favorite to win this series is an absolute joke. Im a capitals fan and we missed the playoffs by a mile this year begging for a rebuild that isnt coming until after the ovechkin era ends. This video you put out tonight encompasses every fair weather rangers fans prospective I have ever heard in my 8 years as a resident of NYC. If you like hockey, you really should smell the roses on this one. NJ dropped the first two games in a dramatic fashion as any team with that many rookies was expected to do, the series since then has gone about as clear as every NHL analyst would have expected it to go, it seems so hypocritical that a video or two ago, you were calling out all of the copy cats of your format, and then you make this video clearly as a blind rangers diehard, isolating the rest of your viewers and splitting your fan base. No one said the Rangers were favored in this series. They weren't. But after games 1 & 2 on the road, they clearly were in the driver's seat. That's what makes this so painful. If they'd won games 1&2 both in OT, then lost the next 3 in really close games too, it would be a totally different story.

It is kinda humorous to me hearing the complete tone change from when the Rangers were up in the series. You made a tongue and cheek “yeah I’m sure The Devils will have some fight in them” to this. Though I get how it feels! Bruins cannot stop passing the puck to a Panther to save their life. We have only lost games due to complete gift goals. They scored 3 in game 2 that were almost directly off a pass from a Bruin to them, and in game 5…Bert and Ullmark gave them the win. I get we have Bad Games, but in The Playoffs…you cannot afford Bad Games.
