Shesterykin is the one guy who put his heart in the series, I have not watched closely the series, but he plays his heart out. The Rangers have been wasting elite goalies since 1941 when they acquired Charlie Rayner who carried the Rangers on his back once he returned from the war, he with a few plucky checkers and an steady but not elite defense took the Rangers to the absolute brink of winning the 1950 cup, they were in overtime of game 7, when a checking winger got a shot right off the draw through traffic and beat Rayner. The Rangers never got close to the finals till the late 60s after they nearly wasted Gump Worsley's career. Then in 1972 they make the finals but Eddie Johnston, Bobby Orr and the Boston Bruins beat them. They finally won the cup in 94' a rare outlier, the Rangers are back to wasting future Hall of Famers or at least trying to in net

The Rangers are named after Butler's Rangers (the "Tex's Rangers" version of events is an attempted retcon that makes no sense; don't let yourself be fooled by it), a Loyalist paramilitary force that participated in/instigated both the Wyoming and Cherry Valley Massacres. The utterly barbaric Sullivan Expedition that subsequently ravaged a wide swath of New York, was a direct response to these depredations. The NY Rangers is equivalent to The Atlanta Yankees. Or The Atlanta Shermans.

I don’t see it as the whole “WOW the first time in the playoffs and the Kraken beat the defending champs!” Storyline a bunch of media outlets have decided to run with. Nah, the defending champs, despite injuries, almost took out a very talented Seattle team and took them to 7. You should be proud of their effort. Me, on the other hand, have every right to be angry that my team gave and risked NOTHING out there this last game! The Rangers owned this series after 2 games. The Devils adjusted, and the Rangers never did. The Devils dismantled the Rangers to the point they were playing as if it were their first time on the ice together. I would like to hear what Lindy said to those guys to get them to buy into the team defense he had been teaching them for month. Lindy flipped the switch and it was a thing of beauty to watch. The wall support, decisions under pressure, quick passing and zone exits......it was perfection. Look at the numbers. In their 4 wins, the Devils limited the Rangers to 2 goals. TWO GOALS IN 4 GAMES! Unreal when you consider what the Rangers added at the deadline. Cap will blow both teams up next season, but the Devils are in the better position for sure.

Both of our teams have a lot of experienced veterans and were genuinely good teams this year but there just doesn't exist a world where 30 somethings beat 20 somethings to the puck a majority of times in a 7 game series. I really love Schmid since he has that unbothered, cold, unfazed demeanor to him that I like with most goalies but more in Schmid. It’s very hard to believe that he’s only a rookie when he guards the net like he’s been in the playoffs for years.

Glad to hear your rage. Not a Rangers fan, but was very upset at what I saw. No fight left in the team, when they were hyped up as a favorite coming into the playoffs. You got Tarasenko and Kaner *for this.* Panarin was a nonfactor the whole series. You don't make it to the dance to just sit in the corner of the gym. But that's all it felt like they did, the entire game. Good on the Devils for showing up with such a high tempo. Wish them the best thru the rest of the playoffs.

That's how I am, lol. Others in my fan base say I'm "not a real one" but my argument is literally the opposite of theirs. To me, loving a team/being a fan means wanting them to do well, not just accepting whatever they do (particularly lousy efforts). It's a tough love. And I'll always be the first one to call out my team when they're sandbagging it.

as a rangers fan, i dont think this game shouldve gone to 7. i feel like the only reason the rangers 'woke up' in game 6 was to not get booed off the ice after the devs win 4 straight to beat them in 6, which would be completely fair. they just looked dead. no energy whatsoever. lets hope next year comes around and we actually have some life in the playoffs should we get there again

Igor probably already submitted his trade request. Winning in the modern NHL requires everyone playing above their cap number. You can't have $30M of passengers riding the train and expect to win. With so many players having full NMC Gallant has to take the fall for this.
@JT-gi8rx Жыл бұрын
Panarin was the worst of all the Rangers. I don’t think he skated more than 50% speed the whole series. I think every single time he touched the puck, he turned it over terribly. Every shot he took missed the net. He was the worst player on the ice, for either team. I was satisfied with the Rangers 4th line, as their effort level was high, and they had some scoring chances. Most of the rest were just meh, putting out maybe 75% effort. Devils were giving it 100% all game, they deserved to win. Their speed was overwhelming too, they were skating circles around the Rangers.

As a Devils fan, ahhh sweet music to my ears. As a hockey fan, the Rangers biggest problem was their persistence on doing the same thing for 7 straight games. Bring the puck in, cycle it high to Fox or Trouba or Miller, whip to the front and hope for the tip/rebound. They had some occasional good chances off the rush but other than that.. it was the same plan over and over. The power play as you said, aside for game 6, helped them to make it closer. Excited to see what the second round brings us

The lack of passion of that urge to get the cup was really disappointing, why play so nice on game 6 just to flunk it on the 7th, sure the devils are a faster...way faster team, but we had plays, we had deflections, where the hell were the guys? As I posted on Truba's after game media, I hope next time you get actually interested on wining the cup. Thanks for all the fish.

Here are my takeaways: 1. Gallant has 1 more chance. If he screws up 2023-24 he's done. 2. Kane needs to retire 3. Drury needs to deeply consider cutting Panarin. So much putting up 90+ points does when you do jack shit in the playoffs year after year 4. Shesterkin needs an extension 5. Tarasenko is a definite keeper. He gelled well with this team and will only get better with time. 6. Rangers need to replace Halak with a much more reliable backup. The games he lost us this year cost us home ice which could've turned the tides of this series.

@@YungFitzy24 His linemates weren’t really his issue. He needs to come to the rink ready to play. Game 5 he looked lethargic and lost on the ice half of his shifts. Sure, his linemates didn’t play good either. But he certainly didn’t help them or himself. A player being paid 11M per year should be able to make the players around him better, like McDavid, Draisaitl, Mackinnon, Kaprizov, Pettersson, etc., not bring their linemates down with them. Panarin was just a liability all series, the only players that seemed to even try were Igor and Fox. Utter disappointment.

Panarin would’ve honestly been a bigger factor if he sat for the series which really hurts to say. He was excellent feeding the devils transition all series long. Turnovers were my key to winning this game and he’s not solely responsible, but the way he constantly turned the puck over stood out and is expected. It’s a major problem.
