Shesty got better as the game went on, Isle’s goalie was weak too which made for an interesting game Between two top goaltenders, both off their games somewhat so you knew any rush down ice might wind up a goal. Also, the Rangers did managed to even the ice out by mid-game after being thoroughly outplayed the first half of the game. then took advantage of the power plays and the goalie pulls. being a rangers fan, I’m inbred to hate the Islanders lol but Matt Martin pulled one of the classiest moves I’ve ever seen from anyone in an islander shirt. For Rempe, a 6’8” 140lb bruiser on his 1st shift in the NHL to be offered a scrum with the veteran legendary tough guy…just a classy move by Martin. And Rempe held his own quite well!!!

The absolute best play of that game was during the final power play. Isles had a chance to clear towards an empty Ranger net but the shot was too low and Fox hit the puck down out of mid air to keep it in the offensive zone and they end up scoring. Had the puck gone down the ice there may have been a much different outcome. The pressure against the Isles was sustained and brutal. It’s little plays like that by Fox or others than can change an outcome and most people didn’t even notice. I’m not a huge fan of these outdoor games just because the camera work seems to be from so far away. But the NHL has really upped their game and this recent series was much better.

So did sprawled out Ilya touch Dobson with that blocker therefore making the net dislodging from possible incidental contact? The NHL called incidental contact on 2 defending teammates to disallow goals in the past (though it was never made clear when that or any incidental contact applies), yet that OT goal was confirmed so quickly I mean look at Vanek's OT goal on Halak that was disallowed by the NHL going out of their way to call in despite on-ice officials & Halak knowing it was a legit goal, the NHL later sent Kris King to the Isles broadcast not to apologize for the terrible decision that cost the Isles the game, but to double down on it & deliver a made up reason for why it was supposed to make sense, apparently Vanek "dragged it in" which made no sense, if that's the level of fine detail they are going to allege they have the ability to change the games with, what happened to considering incidental contact all of a sudden? The NHL does what it wants
@dcaf9410 ай бұрын
The rule in play applies to both intentional and incidental dislodging of the net. As long as it's the defending team and there's an "imminent scoring chance", the ref can rule it a goal.
@PeterHKwok10 ай бұрын
@@dcaf94 So incidental contact & all considerations like that are specifically discounted? And here's the "may" or "can" situation, does may or can have to consider incidental contact or not? Incidental contact was never made clear as to when it applies, just like most rules the NHL bothered to write down but never followed through on in a coherent manner
@dcaf9410 ай бұрын
@@PeterHKwok The rule is very clear. Don't know what you're talking about. "63.7 Awarded Goal In the event that the goal post is displaced, either deliberately or accidentally, by a defending player, prior to the puck crossing the goal line between the normal position of the goalposts, the Referee may award a goal. In order to award a goal in this situation, the goal post must have been displaced by the actions of a defending player, the attacking player must have an imminent scoring opportunity prior to the goal post being displaced, and it must be determined that the puck would have entered the net between the normal position of the goal posts." Plain as day that it doesn't matter if it's incidental or not.
@PeterHKwok10 ай бұрын
@@dcaf94 "may award a goal", that line automatically makes the rule not clear, are all other rules supposed to go away or not? May means you are allowed to but don't need to, while considering whatever obvious stipulations, but are those obvious stipulations thrown out in this case like it seemingly was in this game? That's what you're suggesting but it is not written in the rule

@@PeterHKwok The rule is clear for what happened here.
