Kristen, I love the simple yet pop of Fall vibes you used in your decor. I don't decorate my home each season but Fall colors are my fav all year round. I would use some of these ideas for everyday styling. I bet your home smelled amazing with your homemade stovetop combination. Do you think you could reuse the same pot of goodies multiple times by adding more cider? I was wondering how far you can take it. I'd also add what remains in a mason jar for the look and possibly as a scented piece that wouldn't require burning. I'm starting to limit candle burning. Please share your thoughts 🍂🌿🍁 🎃
@harvestandholly
@harvestandholly Жыл бұрын
Hey there friend, thanks so much! Yes I have heard of people putting the leftover fruit in a jar to reuse by adding back into the pot with more liquid. I would just put it into a refrigerator between uses so it doesn't go bad. I would guess it would last another time or two before the fruit would disintegrate. There are also simmer pot recipes that just use water and herbs/spices that I would think would think could be reused even longer. If you are limiting candle usage, the simmer pot is definitely something to try :)

There is just nothing like a simmer pot for ambience! I also make mine with apple cider or apple juice, and get mine at the Dollar Tree too. Love your white pumpkin pot for simmering. Can be left on the stove all season. Your purple basil in that amber jar is stunning! And being able to cut things from your garden is wonderful. The Japanese Maple stems are perfect . I’m so glad I found your channel because this year I’ve decided I’m so over the holiday stuff. I think it’s tacky. I think we run from one to the other. I want to focus on the seasons and what I want is sense and fresh and not cluttery and chaos removing stuff all the time. I’m new to your channel. I would’ve thought that thing was like poison ivy or poison oak so I’m so glad you told me that because I just bought some land and I don’t know everything when I lived in the city I had a Japanese maple absolutely loved that huge thing and my weeping willow those are the two I miss. I can’t believe those pumpkins and those leaves are real and that basil I thought they were all fake. That’s how perfect they are, which is so much better then you don’t have to keep clutter all year long.. I would love to know where you got that embroidered candle from? OK I don’t know what you’ve tried and not tried, but I would turn my coffee pot laying upside down. I would drench, paper towels, and either vinegar or peroxide lay the paper towels on the yellow spot and then leave it there until it’s completely dry and see if that helps. The problem is if that plastic is open poured it might be almost impossible to get off which would drive me nuts. Also, I totally agree and white is my favorite color.

Oh, my, the Pumpkin Queen does it again! I almost fell asleep watching; it was just so cozy and relaxing. Is that hibiscus an annual or perennial? I want to grow some of that IF it would grow in Zone 8. Did you start indoors or direct seed? Loved the video. xoxTX
@harvestandholly
@harvestandholly Жыл бұрын
Aw thanks!! The hibiscus is annual in all zones under 9, but you may be able to get away with it. I start indoors because it has a 120 day maturity timeframe and living in the north, that’s practically my whole season. In zone 8 I bet you could direct sow outside. The good thing about it is that it’s pretty at all stages from seedling to maturity. If you decide to grow jt; make sure to pinch the top leaf set off once it grows about 4 leaf sets so that it will branch. Let me know if you have questions!

How do you care for branches when used as a centerpiece and how long do they last? I bought branches from my favorite florist last week and they're still in good shape, I'm impressed! Just not sure how often to trim, change the water, and how long to expect that they'll last considering they'll probably mold at some point.
@harvestandholly
@harvestandholly Жыл бұрын
What kind of branches did you buy? That will determine how long they last. These mahogany hibiscus stems will last several weeks if I change the water and they may even root in the vase too. I don’t always trim these because I want them to root, but on flowers and other stems that I want to last, I trim 1/2 and inch to an inch every couple days when I change the water!

I use baking soda and enough water to make a paste on coffee and tea stains in my mugs, works like a charm. I'm sure the other ideas work well too. Would love to know if you were able to get your Keurig clean. New subscriber here. I very much enjoyed this video.

If you don’t get the stain out of the coffee maker, you could consider putting a decorative, tall mug in there as a placeholder/decor item that might cover the yellow stain up. Loved your video! So peaceful and interesting!

Hi friend!New friend here watching you from Athens Greece.Try to spray your keurig with some neutral oil,like canola oil and rub it with some fabric...the stain should go away!Love the way you decorate your home 🧡

I've never heard of purple basil. Do you cook with it? I cook with regular basil 🌱 sometimes. 😊
@harvestandholly
@harvestandholly Жыл бұрын
I have not tried cooking with it, but I hear the flavor is similar to sweet basil. I grow some ornamental varieties that don't taste great, so I'm too scared to try the purple kind now lol

Ever since I seen you use apple juice for your simmer pot last year, that's how I have been doing....I think it makes it last longer!❤ I love all of your decor and the ambience that you've created! Thank you for sharing with us, Pumpkin Queen!🎃🎃🎃 ~try a spritzer of hot white vinegar and Blue Dawn dish soap. Heat the 1 cup of vinegar in microwave. Pour in spray bottle. Add 1/2 cup of Dawn to bottle. Shake up in bottle. Spray into surface and let sit. Then just wipe down. Should take it out. I use it on our bathrooms. Takes any soap scum or stains out!

Have you tried a magic eraser on the white coffee machine ? Great kitchen decor decorating. I too found a gray vase this year and will be using it for Fall. I usually decorate for Fall for one month and then Halloween for one month. How about you ?
