Eclipse Starts & This Happened! Railroad Diamonds, Total Eclipse, 4 Trains In Greenwich Ohio, CSX!

Perfect Timing! Total Eclipse Starts & Here Comes A Long CSX Freight Train! A 5 Track Railroad Crossing And 2 Railroad Diamonds Are Here. 4 Trains At Greenwich Railroad Junction In Greenwich, Ohio. Epic Luck With A Train Coming At Just The Right Time And It Took 5 Minutes For It To Speed Past. We Also See Old New York Central Railroad Lineside Signals And A Close Look At The Rail.
2 CSX lines cross here and Wheeling & Lake Erie Railroad passes through here also. I will have a video with a W&LE train at this location. I came here hoping to catch a train during the few minutes of totality. This is a perfect area to get the maximum time of darkness so that is why I chose this site. I rode up here with Scott 1960gambit and we met some railfans here including Mike N8rbi radio. It had been a while since the last train came so I thought we were going to strike out. All of a sudden just after I noticed it getting dark, a headlight showed up in the distance. This is probably my most lucky catch ever. What were the odds of a train showing up in the few minutes of totality?
There are 4 trains in this video including one going over the railroad diamond running eastbound. Some of these trains really book through here. At one point there were three trains in a row and those will be in Part 2 of this video.
The last eclipse was in August, 2017. I do a flashback in this video to show what it looked like at my home in Ohio. It didn't get near as dark but it was still pretty cool and the kids really enjoyed it. Notice all the partial moon patterns on the ground from the sun. Look how little the kids were. A couple of more trains are shown after the 2017 flashback.

The green (trailing) locomotive @19:54 (SSRX 715) is a GP38-2 belonging to S&S Shortline Leasing, a "fledgling" outfit out of Farmington, UT. The unit is so "new", it's still not listed on their online roster of yet...a unique catch (on your part!). "Couple" that (no pun intended) with a vintage Chessie System hi-cube boxcar @21:20, and you shot a very cool train, JT. 👍👍

Here in NYC, it was only a partial eclipse. The sky was noticeably darker but not like a total eclipse. Through the glasses the sun looked like a crescent moon.

That was a great video! I, too, experienced the eclipse on my childhood homestead in Erie, PA, and it was truly a once in a lifetime happening. You didn't have to worry about your video not showing up in the darkness, for your camera more than made up for that darkness. The before-and-after around the train was breathtaking. God can paint a picture with His creation that man can't even begin to match!

There was a stellar CSX mixed freight! It had a green locomotive in the second position, plus 2 green covered hoppers, a two compartment tank car and a DPU on a long (154 +/-cars) train! It was just fabulous, JT!! Great catch my friend. 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤

True! Our little town was founded in Greenwich Township in Huron County in 1879. This area is what is known as the Firelands of the Connecticut Western Reserve. Citizens of Connecticut who suffered loss during the Revolutionary war were awarded reparations in the form of 500k acres of land in the Western Reserve. Many Connecticut village names can be found in this area: New Haven, New London, Norwalk...

Funny thing about the pronunciation, in Connecticut they say "Grenich". In New York they say "Grenich" but in Ohio it's Green-witch! It's like the Lyma vs. Leema (Lima) thing.

That was awesome! It gets cold real quickly when the sun gets covered over, even in a partial eclipse. I guess that first train would be riding in the dark for a while! The Green Loco on the third train was neat! That last one was at least 175 cars long, if not more. Yeah, the pics from 2017 were great too, with the horseshoe shadows.
