So I had the same problem with my 2014 Fusion Ecoboost. Changed the sensor and it worked fine for 6 months. Did it again a couple of days back. As the sensor has a tapered fit, you must ensure that there's a tight fit. I found that I could give my sensor a 1/4 turn more and it worked. If it happens again I'm going to use some type of sealing on the thread as all problem disappeared when I snugged it up.

Now I can see it’s sensible to replace it if it goes faulty. From these posts you can see the engine management system will detect faults and then you can take the appropriate action. As I have said before , from my sources within Fords there are no issues with this component that would be of concern or a recall. It seems there are a few rough ones but nothing more anything else you would buy.
@cameronfelski46872 жыл бұрын
the last part of your statement is incorrect. Ford absolutely should have recalled this part and given the new one for free to any mustang owner that wanted it replaced, period. Am I going to write them over a $40-$60 part? No. This is them getting away with it, not because they shouldn't do it. idk why you would ever even say what you said.

TiberiuS thank you very helpful just bought my wife a new car today and I’m going to check

This does not answer my question. Why are you changing it? I have no issues with my car and I have the old sensor. I have spoken to a friend who works for Ford and he tells me Ford are not aware of any issues, and have not issued any recalls. So why should we all start to replace a part that’s not faulty?
@tiberius83906 жыл бұрын
@John Bedwell: Sorry, I think I answered the wrong post. That's a good question actually. The sensor is in fact the low fuel pressure sensor. The engine has a high (rail) pressure sensor to measrue the fuel pressure on the injectors. The engine should actually check the rail pressure sensor to determine how much fuel it injects. So to my knowledge the engine CANNOT run lean and break down through a broken low fuel pressure sensor. Unless Ford has some major flaws in the programming... If the low pressure sensor is broken and delivers values that make no sense... usually the check engine light goes on. If the rail pressure is fine the engine will work normally. If the rail pressure decreases, too the engine will shut down to prevent damage. (and the check engine light should flash)

@@bedweljp I don't know about your cars but in my 13 fusion Ecoboost these sensors are the cause of not entirely random stalls and they do not throw cels. The scenario is. Hello! I just bought a 2018 Ecoboost Mustang Manual trans. Do I need to replace that part? Thanks!
@tiberius83906 жыл бұрын
You can look at the number on the shaft of the sensor (you have to unplug it for it). Afaik BU5A-9F972-BA are the faulty ones. The current (good) ones should be the BU5A-9F972-CA

Might be a solid idea to carry one on hand in case it happens on the road. Lol.

Why? It says doesn't fit for my 2017 mustang ecoboost on the website.
Stock sensor goes bad, can cause the vehicle to go lean.

@Brendan McCahon dude did you also notice anything else? Like I basically made no boost at all. It felt a bit sluggish.
